Iraq Unplugged

About Me

Nick and I met in Baghdad a few months into our deployment with the Arkansas Army National Guard's 39th Infantry Brigade in 2004. We started playing music in our spare time and sharing original songs which we had been writing about our experiences. Throughout the rest of the deployment, we would take every opportunity to get together to write, play, and eventually record the music we had created. If our music sounds a little unpolished, it is. We used a digital recording program found on the internet, a simple plastic mic, and our beat up acoustic guitars to record many songs including the 13 tracks on our "Iraq Unplugged" album.

Throughout history, it is documented that soldiers in every conflict have found a release in music. However, never before has an entire album been completely inspired, written, and produced in a combat zone until "Iraq Unplugged". Today's technology allowed us to share our music straight from the war itself; many of our tracks being widely spread through the internet and file sharing months before we returned home. This is truly a historic event and, along with the many other talented military songwriters out there, Nick and I are proud to have had a part in it.

If you're interested in the inspiration behind each song, how our album was produced, or just want to know what's new with our music, please feel free to subscribe to our blog. Our music has been floating around cyberspace since we recorded it back in 2004 and the album has been available on our website since shortly after. However, we're new to myspace so we're anxious to tell our story to anyone who will listen.

Don't forget to visit our website, www.iraq-songs.com for more information and to listen to the complete album. You can purchase the "Iraq Unplugged" album at any time from this page or from our website simply by clicking the Paypal link for a fast and secure checkout. Be sure to check back periodically or subscribe to our profile, as we will be posting never before heard studio versions of a few of the "Iraq Unplugged" tracks along with other cuts that didn't make the album. We also plan to add a digital download store very soon in order to make these rare tracks available to you, as well as your favorite "Iraq Unplugged" tunes.

Thanks for visiting our site and we hope you enjoy the music.

Regards - JR & Nick
