About Kat: She was born November 17, 1987 in The Bronx, New York. Although born in The Bronz, Kat was raised in the Dominican Republic. At the age of 14, Kat was admitted to the New Jersey School of the Performing Arts. She also took part of an all girl group named Coquette, a Latina, Hip-Hop/R&B group. While working with Coquette Kat continued to search for opprtunities to lead her towards her goal as a solo artist. She had entered a Coca-Cola sponsored karaoke competition. Her version of "I Will Always Love You" got her first place. It was through the competition that she met the legendary Cuban salsa singer Rey Ruiz. Ruiz advised Kat to start writing her own music. Kat says, "He told me, nobody knows you better than you do, and no one can help you if you can't help yourself,"that was told to her by Ruiz. With that said, Kat began writing her own music and has continued to do so since! Kat then signed a contract with the production label GMB. Kat was finally picked up by Epic Records and is currently under both labels. Her debut album, 9 Lives, was released on August 7, 2007. She has shared stages with: Milly Quezada and Marc Anthony.
