About Me

Luton and Dunstable born and bred, it's been good to me despite what some people may think. It's just me and my guitar and I love it. I haved lived in the mighty Dunstable (famed for The Priory i have you know) since 1983, I have always had music around me from as early as I remember, My Grandad would regularly play hymns to us on his organ on a Sunday. Guess that kind of got me into music, so I started playing Keyboard, I have then played the game of instrument swap ( a little like wife swap but with instruments), jumping from keyboard to recorder, violin, trumpet to guitar. A girlfriend at the time gave me a guitar for my birthday and well i then got writing and learning lots of ambitious 3 chord songs. I even joined a band at uni called The Wigs, we believed in zero practice then gigs, and we got paid in alcoholic beverages. Recipe for success! After Uni we parted company but stayed great mates unlike the take that split. (We weren't a boy band btw). I then started playing acoustic nights and open mics on my jack jones and early in 2008 I played my 1st proper gig in Luton. Since then I have continued gigging in Luton, my home town, Camden, Carnaby Street, notably supporting Mark chadwick (the Levellers), Shapes, Royston Jones and The Friday Nights and had some fantastic support from family and friends. Right now I'm looking to get more gigs, get heard, and get recorded and then maybe I will get to do it a lot more often and to a lot more people, here's hoping....that's me, thanks for reading. "Many a lad learns to play guitar but only few can actually sing – and boy can that lad sing.....Captivating.....with a doff of the cap to Paul Weller at his soulful best...... That voice has got meal ticket written all over it". (James Cunliffe, Beds on Sunday). As well as being compared to Weller..... Jeff Buckley, Pete Doherty, James Blunt, Jack Penate, Paul Simon, and Billy Bragg are also names that have been mentioned. Quite a mix... "Charming and earnest", the performance and "one to earmark as a future talent." (Alex Hambleton DTA)

My Interests

Music:

Band Members: :Vocals- Me Backing Vocals- Me Guitar- Me Trumpet- Me. I'm very busy....
Influences: I always think when you see a band's list of influences..."but you don't sound a bit like them!". So I will just tell you about those bands and artists I enjoy, whether you think they have influenced my sound or not.... Paul Weller, Billy Bragg, Jeff Buckley, David Gray, Paolo Nutini, James Blunt, James Morrison, The Beatles, Elton John, The Libertines, there are many others but these made the list. As well as music, the ups and downs in my life have played a big part in what I write. A lot of my songs are about my family and friends and those who I love that I have lost. All in all that's me.
