About Me

Greetings everyone, my name is Q Dot. When I’m not flying around in my hip hop superhero cape rapping, making beats, recording, performing, and running my label (Tre’dmarks) I go simply by Q or Quincy. In case you’re wondering, I was named after Quincy Jones – I like to think my older brothers were onto something, they named me.
I am from Seattle -I think it’s one of the best cities in America. Yes, I like Starbucks, I also illegally download music, watch history channel and love historical epic movies. It’s also my firm belief that there are too many rappers in the world. I mean you, rapper.
I indeed left college for a record deal at Interscope…that never materialized. It’s also true I got to open for Kanye West and Sir Mix a Lot –that guy is hilarious. Funny fact, summer ‘08 I did my first summer jam in Houston Texas where, surprisingly, more people on the street knew about me there than at home. Go figure. Also true I was one of the first cats from my part of the world to have a music video on a major network in over a decade. Get at me.
Perfect strangers have taken the time to tell me they think my beats are ‘f***in bananas’, that my rhymes are ‘downright ignorant’ (in a good way) and that my previous CDs are in ‘heavy rotation’ in their CD players and iPods. Which to me, means a lot more than some out of touch executive or celebrity who at the end of the day doesn’t really care, saying it to a bunch of magazine writers.
I think major labels died about 5 years ago, bulldogs are great, radio sucks, Clay Bennett and Howard Shultz are secretly homosexual lovers who conspired to take my beloved Sonics from Seattle, hip hop isn’t dead it just merely got something equivalent to a sex change, sex is great, my city is next to blow, I’m pretty damn talented and lastly, you should buy my music. Because my cell phone bill is crazy. =)
–seriously though.
