Finally the time has come!
On Friday, may 1st 2009 the debut album
Slices of You of Dutch doomrock band SiMÓN saw first light at their release show at Watt, Rotterdam. In a well filled Basement SiMÓN took the stage to present their long awaited album to the crowd.
In the winter of 2005 the first ideas for a new musical project started to rise in Cell 3 studios in Limburg. In the ideal setting of the remote town of Echt, Bart Heuts, Jaap Melman (both ex Dreadlock Pussy) and Ilja Traas (ex Craven, Sk;rl and Dead by Dawn) mixed elements of metal, postrock and doom and laid the foundation for Doomrock formation SiMÓN.
Early 2006, Bart and Ilja decided to record the material they had so far. Sjoerd van der Knoop (Face Tomorrow, Dead by Dawn, Viberider) called in to take care of the drums. While recording, the urge to play live starts to grow and by the end of 2006 Tijs Hop (Face Tomorrow) and Theun Sponselee join up and SiMÓN starts working on their live performance to translate their dark vibes and intense emotions to the stage.
This year SiMÓN is ready! The debut album ‘Slices of You’ has come out on Psycho Squad records (www.schq-recs.com). It’s a comprehensive mix of heavy, bombastic metal, psychedelics and melodic rock. With this blend they will also rattle your bones with pounding riffs, put you into trance with hypnotizing melodies, drop you into deep, dark holes and carry you to heartbreaking climaxes on stage.
