Evolution. Lavender’s experience with the world of Electronic Dance Music can be summed up with one simple word. Evolving from simple music lover, to raver, to DJ, and finally to aspiring producer, Lavender has experienced the full spectrum of music from every angle. His unique viewpoints and experiences give him the tools required to rock any floor from Orlando to Osaka. Lavender’s one-of-a-kind blend of Trance encompasses elements from Progressive to Tech, from Hard to Psy, and all points in between with a few surprises along the way. It was the early stages of EDM which caught Lavender’s ear. Classic groups such as New Order, Orbital, DeVo, Depeche Mode, Erasure, and Kraftwerk were igniting dancefloors worldwide. Lavender was there, amongst the fans, as the New Wave of music spread across the world. The squelchy but enrapturing sounds of the 303 and the 808 spoke to him as if a divine inspiration. As the 80’s became the 90’s and Acid House parties became Raves, Lavender was still there. The world was rocking to the new sounds of Techno championed by Jeff Mills and Richie Hawtin. Norman Cook brought the sound to the masses, and Lavender was right there for the whole thing. He listened to the music with the discriminating ear of a trained musician, and a lover of the Classical sounds. After bravely deciding to serve his country for several years as a United States Marine, Lavender arrived back on the scene in time to be totally engulfed in the Trance phenomena. Paul Van Dyk, Sasha, and John 00 Fleming commanded the dancefloor with electrifying music combined with an emotional undertone. Lavender soon found himself in love with this new sound of EDM, which appealed to his Classical side as well as his modern side. These artists spoke to Lavender in a way which none had before. This started his collision course with destiny; becoming a DJ. Lavender’s experience with music, as well as his classical training, have deeply influenced his style. Just as great composers such as Brahms and Bach used their music to take the listener on a journey, Lavender incorporates a long blend style of mixing with impeccable track selection to venture with his audience on a journey of aural discovery. His ability to transport clubbers on a voyage of self discovery and enlightenment through sonic methods continues to put crowds on their ears all over. His residency at the world-renowned Harmony Network and Orbital Grooves Radio just proves that clubbers can’t get enough of this evolution through music. As times change, people change. Some people accept it, others reject it. Lavender has accepted the challenge in every way. Evolution. It’s where we’re headed.
