The intensifying interest surrounding contemporary visual culture and electronic music among young people in the know infers higher expectations from the practicioner-side of the audio-visual arts. Competition and fame in everyday life, however, are not solely determined by creativity.
The international Cinetrip challenge provides an opportunity for a real clash of cultures, where anyone may find their preferred category and artistic manifestation according to their skills, experience and orientation.
At the previous two instances of the biannual event, the VJ community and the local audience could experience the fantasy world and technical skills of over a hundred contestants from 11 countries, which, in our hopes, has helped the enhancement of local visual culture.
So as to make it even more effective, the programmes on offer at this years' CVJ2008 span over a week, with workshops from Monday to Wednesday, and the introduction of the demoscene, the contest will take place from Thursday to Saturday featuring Dutch and Flemmish musical acts at night - and big dances.
At the tournament the international jury will award 3 prizes in 3 categories, while the audience has the opportunity to vote for their favourite also.
The most able will be awarded on 1st March, 2008 at the CVJ2008 Awards Ceremony.
1. Preproduced category:
In this category we are expecting preproduced VJ-works (by groups or individuals), mixed with music, not longer than 12 minutes. The pieces to be featured in the festival programme go through a pre-selection process.
