History
Mosaico Folk Ensemble was founded by the renowned maestro de folklorico, Emilio Rivas, and the Ballet Folklorico de UC Irvine alumni. The alumni group had been in existence for 20 years.
Emilio Rivas brought extensive knowledge of Mexican folklore and outstanding credentials to give Mosaico a firm foundation to reach a prominent reputation.
In it's seven years of existence, Mosaico Mexican Folk Ensemble has participated in a variety of events including: El Grito for Mexican Independence Day in Los Angeles Univision's Despierta America, and Cinco de Mayo festivities at Monterey Park and other community events and celebrations.

Emilio Rivas
Emilio Rivas was born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. From the age of sixteen, he became interested in the research and presentation of regional dances of Mexico. He began his career by becoming a student of the "School of Fine and Performing Arts" at the Universidad de Guadalajara where he later became a dance member of this prestigious institution, he traved through Mexico and several contries throughout the world.
Since 1973, Emilio has been involved in the education system in several areas throughout the United States. He has taught and conducted workshops in several cultural insitutions, colleges, and universities. Emilio has received many recognitions and honors for his contributions as a dance instructor, choreographer, and for his preservation to the art and culture of Mexican Folk Dance.
