About Me

"Whether you and I and a few others will renew the world someday remains to be seen. But within ourselves we must renew it each day." ~ Hermann Hesse
Let's see... I was born and raised in Southern California but now call Wisconsin home. The move left me with an overwhelming appreciation for the Pacific Ocean and even now, I'm never happier than when I'm near water. As with most of you reading this, my friends and family mean the world to me and I have no idea where I would be without them! (Even if I do occasionally go MIA. :P)
Other than that, ask me what significance the nickname, "Thumbelina," has for me (It's origin is one of my best stories) as well as anything else... I'm a really open, social person so don't be scared to send me a message. I'm always up for talking to someone new. Oh and I'm Half-Japanese if that helps to clear up any confusion.
My headline is from The Shins "Gone For Good." Feel free to ask me why I like it so much if you want to but analyze the quote that I try to live by instead. "Don't cry when it's over. Smile because it happened." It works well for me. Give it a try!

My Interests

TRAVELING, learning about different cultures and meeting new people, optimism, philosophy, PHOTOGRAPHY, going to concerts (I'm on an "Indie," kick lately), and plays, anything involving Nature, READING, coffee shops, going for l-o-n-g walks, playing TENNIS, movies, art etc. etc. Pretty much anything. :)

I'd like to meet:

Absolutely anyone as long as you don't stalk me. :)

Seriously though, I LOVE meeting new people and while I sadly, DON'T ADD JUST TO ADD, I do my best to respond to every (Appropriate) e-mail that I receive.

People that have a great sense of humor, are OPEN-minded, love a variety of music, love to travel (Whether to a different city or across the globe!) are creative and have no problems enjoying the simple as well as complex pleasures in life will definitely catch my interest. Contrastly, negative, judgemental people can keep browsing, thanks!

-- Finally, my order is based on how often I talk to you OUTSIDE of Myspace. Therefore, you shouldn't be upset if you're not on it. Just get ahold of me and it will change. :)--

Music:

If you were to randomly scroll through my Ipod right now, you would find: Death Cab for Cutie, The Shins, Syd, The Postal Service, Thievery Corporation, Azure Ray, David Gray, Dashboard Confessional, Damien Rice, Bright Eyes, Way Out West, Interpol, Idlewild, Eastmountainsouth, The Decemberists, Tristan Prettyman, Eisley, Enya, Camera Obscura, Rogue Wave, My Morning Jacket, The Fray, Band of Horses, Ivy, Snow Patrol, Kaiser Chiefs, Johnny Cash, Jamie Cullum, Frank Sinatra, India.Arie, O.A.R. Pete Yorn, Pixies, Echo and the Bunny Men (LOVE their name!), Rusted Root, Grandaddy, Dead Can Dance, The Arcade Fire, Stars, Her Human Holiday, Luna, Loquat, Yo La Tengo, Feist, Imogen Heap, Sufjan Stevens, Kodo, The Killers, Joshua Radin, Gomez, Mat Kearney, Regina Spektor and Ziggy Marley. To name just a few. :P I also love a variety of cultural/world music. Think Irish reels, Spanish salsa, Japanese taiko drums and... pretty much anything in between.
Cool Slideshows

Movies:

Anything by Alfred Hitchcock, Arsenic and Old Lace, Garden State, The Motorcyle Diaries, While You Were Sleeping, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (Learned one of my fave quotes from it!) Big Fish, Lost In Translation, Finding Forrester, The Sure Thing, The Shawshank Redemption, Little Miss Sunshine, Love Actually, Medicine Man, Dead Poets Society, Shaun of the Dead and LOTS of others...

Television:

CSI, Law and Order, Grey's Anatomy, The Simpsons, King of the Hill, Globe Trekker, Six Degrees and a bunch of others that I tend to channel surf through when I'm bored.

Books:

I just started reading, Hubert Selby Jr.'s "Requiem For A Dream," and just finished reading, Samantha Power's, "A Problem From Hell: America and The Age of Genocide." Authors like F Scott Fitzgerald, Milan Kundera and Gabriel Garcia Marquez will always be high on my list of faves. However, my all-time favorite book has to be... "What Dreams May Come," by Richard Matheson.

Heroes:

Just a few of the people that I admire for one reason or another are: Alfred Hitchcock, Vincent Van Gogh (Starry Starry Night means the world to me!) and... probably my grandmother for being as strong and kind as she was despite all odds being against her in life.

Blah... :)

A new friend on the train today was trying to convince me that no matter what, nice guys finish last. Okay, fine, everyone already knows that. But my question is, where do nice girls finish? Or do ...

"It started out with a kiss... how did it end up like this?" Part II

Don't worry... This time it isn't a drunken..rant about a particularly nasty stalker, but rather a formal apology to all of you that have been affected by my recent bouts of drama... I can honestly sa...

Cheetahs, Diamonds and Other Nonsensical Thoughts...

I honestly think a cheetah almost gave me a heart attack. I went to the zoo and (Since it's winter ;) ) found it basically deserted. So I wandered around taking various pics and came across the cat ex...

"Yeah but you're not a girl, you're Amy..."

I've been sitting in front of a computer for the last 14 hours so I thought a fitting end to today would be a blog. Sorry if it's not coherent but yes I actually did work the entire day and then some...
