About Me

Described as “The Foo Fighters meets The Chili Peppers meets Led Zepelin” by one publication, 8th Hour’s unique setup of two singer/songwriters makes for a varied, refreshing sound labelled as Indie on Red Bull, and is a composition which leaves their London audiences wanting more. It seems to be their familiarisation with the British indie sound and the inquisitiveness of how it has been blended with American Rock that keep the fans coming back for more.
As with so many bands before them, 8th Hour’s infancy began at university where singer/songwriter Daniel Marcus Grant (Vocals /Rhythm Guitar) met likeminded Stephen Moss (Vocals/Lead Guitar). A fledgling friendship was formed and following a chance meeting a few years later, the decision was taken to join forces and form a rock band. With this in mind, the pair needed some extra hands, sticks and strings. Despite his infatuation with Hardcore Metal, South African Jason ‘Monkeyboy’ Woodward (Bass) joined to transform the duo into a trio. Jamming sessions began, but it wasn’t long before they realised the necessity of a drummer to complete their sound. Kyle ‘The Kid’ Kokott (Drums), a fellow South African, joined to complete the band.
The name 8th Hour came about because the band had only practiced together for 7 hours prior to their first gig. The opening on-stage statement by Dan that ‘This is our 8th Hour!’ stuck.
Despite forming in late 2007, the band has already racked up some impressive venues. Having played and become regulars in bars and clubs in Central London, the band’s highlight came in the form of an invitation from award-winning South African singer/songwriter Karma to support her on her UK Tour. The Half-Moon in Putney provided the perfect setting for these young rockers to deliver a gig which has resulted in a fast-growing fan-base. It is here in South London that regular gigs have lead to a firm fan base that is now extending into Essex.
8th Hour are currently recording their first CD at Soundlab Studios Essex under the watchful eye of James Horwood (owner of Soundlab and former A&R scout and engineer at Abby Road Studios).
This is but the beginning!
