The River Valley Band

About Me

River Valley Band formed in late 2007 in Kilkenny, with five locals in their early twenties who had no intentions of following the academic rigmarole, Conor Brett, Eoghan Leadbetter, Liam Teehan, Daniel Coady and David Thompson. After dabbling in separate bands, they formed a union and common interest over the ingenuity of well arranged hard rock and the dulcet tones and expert songwriting of southern-cum-American music. The music was written behind a glassblowing factory, with plenty of heat, tea, coffee, comfortable chairs and an ensemble of instruments. They sang and composed well into the night before bringing the songs to the electric stage to arrange the rock versions. It is this formula that created the essence of the River Valley Band. Session to stage, and whatever it is that's lost and gained in the translation. They began playing public on the local circuit in early 2008. It was then that international photographer David Barry heard them in a back room as he enjoyed a pint. Having worked within the music industry for many years, he offered to help the band as much as he could to try bring their music to a wider audience, resulting in his managing of the band. He brought them to Dublin and arranged a residency in Whelans, playing with in-house-cowboy N.C. Lawlor, and hooked them up with local Dublin bands such as The Last Tycoons, The Hot Sprockets and now the acclaimed Nell Bryden. This year, after extensive networking, they will release two singles and an album with the current working title of 'Drunk in the Wine Cellar'.
