About Me

I am Nick Walker. I am a freelance bassist and I work regularly with Hot Club of Huntsville/Chip Gulbro and Friends and The Blue Savoy Jazz Combo. I also occasionally work with the Matt Gibbs Trio, an incarnation of the Blue Savoy, as well as, Mambo Gris Gris, the Newt Johnson Quartet, the Cotton Rocket Jazz Society, Ben Walker, Phil Weaver and the Phillistines, Billy C. Farlow, and, of course, the venerable Black Root Ensemble .

Sounds Like:

Hot Club of Huntsville/Chip Gulbro and Friends exists in several forms. At times there have been three guitarists, a violinist and a bassist, while at others there have been one guitarist, an accordionist, a violinist, a vocalist and a bassist. The music is a Gypsy style of jazz that originated with Django Reinhardt and Stephan Grappelli.

The Blue Savoy Jazz Combo has also existed in several forms and has been playing in the North Alabama area for over 10 years. This group focuses on popular jazz, broadway jazz and exotica rock. The typical configuration is vocals, guitar, drums and bass.
