THE NORTHERNMOST METAL IN THE WORLD
BLACK CRUCIFIXION began in 1991 featuring FORNICATOR (vocals) and BLACKSOUL (guitar) with Beherit members SODOMATIC SLAUGHTER (drums) and WENNSTRÖM (bass) joining them.
BLACK CRUCIFIXION’s debut demo “The Fallen One of Flames” was recorded in 1991. BEHERIT’s main man HOLOCAUSTO VENGEANCE co-produced the sessions and wrote some of the material.
But black metal was already beginning to lose what made it different from all other styles of music: band after band started to paint their faces and compete in brutalities and morbid deeds. It became a trend. Both BLACK CRUCIFIXION and BEHERIT had to evolve musically.
With new member E.HENRIK (bass) onboard the band’s sound made a huge leap. “Promethean Gift” was recorded in 1992 and came out in 1993, presenting metal that, like BATHORY, CELTIC FROST, SAMAEL, BEHERIT (Drawing Down the Moon), TIAMAT and NECROMANTIA, reaches beyond the boring monotony of less talented bands.
In 1996 BLACK CRUCIFIXION started to work on a full length album entitled “Faustian Dream”, but it was not finalised as the band grew tired of the scene around them. The album took ten years to be completed and it was released in 2006 to much critical acclaim and debate.
BLACK CRUCIFIXION RELEASE SATANIC ZEITGEIST 12" (live 23th of August 1991)
23th of August 1991 wasn't just an ordinary Friday in Oulu, Finland. That was the date of the Day of Darkness festival where Black Crucifixion, Beherit, Impaled Nazarene, Amorphis, Sentenced, Demigodand Belial shared the same stage for the only time in history. The performance of Black Crucifixion was recorded professionally and now for the first time ever it can be heard. "Satanic Zeitgeist" 12" features three previously unheard Black Crucifixion tracks, the only live version of their title track "Black Crucifixion" and two cover versions of Venom and Sarcofago. This is the only recording of the original Black Crucifixion line-up featuring Beherit members Wennström and Sodomatic Slaughter on bass and drums.
