LostMonk is a Live PA / electronic music project based in São Paulo, Brazil.
For a long time being an electronic music fan, and after an unforgettable Kraftwerk show, I started studying audio and production. I think the CD Ufo from The Orb is what really opened my ears for new electronic sound possibilities. "Blue Room" is one of my favorite tracks until today, together with "Halcyon and On" from Orbital. I think you know when a song is important for you when you remember exactly where you were the first time you heard it. Or when it makes you forget where you are, who you are, what time it is, and why are you dancing alone in the middle of the crowd with a big frozen smile on your face.
When I began producing I was really into buying the best equipment I could, the last plug-in was the best, today I'm really into making the best music I can with the equipment I have. I stopped upgrading. I hate when you enter a single note and the plug-in makes a loop of two minutes. This is not making music, this is just pushing buttons. I'm really into a hardware only setup nowadays. Less fx, more punch, more fun. Sometimes my mix is not quit perfect, but perfection is boring, electronic music is about experimentation, and errors are a very important part of the process. instead of perfection I'd rather look for the vibe, the fun, the scream of the crowd, the big, big bass sound which goes right in your stomach.
I think music is an answer for a better world. When you sing, when you play, when you dance, there's no space for hate, anger or wars. We got to open our hearts and love each other more and more. Life is about love. Life is about freedom. Life is about spending more time with the ones you love. Life is about music. Life is about listening.
