The Meantones

About Me

The Meantones are a hard working original metal trio born out of Zanesville, Ohio. The Band formed in 1999 cutting their teeth on Sabbath, Deep Purple, and such classic power trios as cream and mountain. Hitting bike runs and hard rock bars throughout central ohio The Meantones brought their own beefed up versions of hard rock classics to any open ears. The summer of 2001 brought about a need for change. To take the band to a new level The Meantones set out writing their own brand of metal. Drawing off of influences as varied as Mudvayne and the Deftones to Danzig and Cradle of Filth, while staying true to their Sabbath roots, the band has since been busy carving their niche in Columbus and the surrounding area. Laying down the back bone of the music, Jordan Temple, a hard hitting drummer is just as at home playing back-beat styled swamp metal as blast beat dark metal. Jordan, a very prodigious drummer has been behind the kit since the ripe old age of eight. Drawing off of personal musical influences such as Bill Ward (black Sabbath), John Bonham (Led Zeppelin), and Nic Barker (Cradle of Filth) Jordan brings a percussive style that is highly varied and always dead on. Filling up the bottom end is Chase Hurlow a very stylistic and at times percussive bass player. Chase's perfectionist styled writing is always pushing the band to the next level. Chase cites Geezer Butler (Black Sabbath), Les Claypool (Primus), Ryan Martinie (Mudvayne), and Cliff Burton (Metallica) as being influences on his technical and "filling" bass style. Taking on the roll of lead guitar and vocals, Jesse Temple is a sometimes moody frontman. Drawing from personal experience, Jesse brings a straightforward and heavy guitar complimented by a dark, brooding and melodic vocal style. Jesse finds influence in Glen Danzig (Danzig), Tony Iommi (Black Sabbath) and Kenny Hickey (Type O Negative). The Meantones have recently finished their first professionally recorded E.P., and are busy bringing their music to a metal club near you. They hope that their artistically dark and fresh vision will be stimulating to those who yearn for something different.
