Brian's former band imploded in January '05 when the lead singer left based on the usual "artistic differences." Taking the next month to assess whether it was time to quit music altogether, Brian decided he would make one last attempt to get a band together and so he put in an ad for a lead singer. Singer Michael Brooke responded, and upon concluding their first meet-up, an instant musical connection was born. "That first day we met up, I had a rough sketch of 'Lost' which I presented to Mike, and immediately I was drawn in by his sincerity," remembers Brian.
From there, the two spent the next 6 months crafting a small repertoire of songs until they were fortunate enough to draft in Michael's friend - and accomplished guitarist - Archie Sherman, to play bass. The final piece to the puzzle came when, through a friend of a friend, Michael was put in touch with drummer Joey Vroom.
In November '05, the band entered the studio with producer Marc DeSisto (U2, Pink Floyd, Joe Cocker) and recorded four songs for their first EP, titled "The Speak to Me EP."
