"Whats Left" Acoustic Live At Eon Coffee
T he emergence of
Fighting the Villain signals one of the most unique, innovative and purely entertaining new trends to hit today's music. These young artists are committed to doing their music, their way, with a sound destined to shape the songs of tomorrow. Fighting the Villain fuses pop-punk and metal into progressive alternative music. Songs range from melodic vocals in "Last Goodbye" and "Turning Heel", to heavy guitar and drum driven tracks like "What's Left" and "Lesser Known Monsters."
S ince 2005, the founder and creative focus of Fighting the Villain,
Cisco Estrada, started his career off as a bass player and went on to become a collaborating writer and rhythm guitarist for the band.
T he first talent to be enlisted was longtime collaborator and classmate
Miguel Perez. Miguel worked with Cisco since Fighting the Villain’s beginnings in high school. After pursuing other avenues in college, Miguel quickly had a change of heart and returned to his original position as lead guitarist. The pair's closely meshed musical approach and guitar playing complimented each others talents and made it a natural choice for the current project.
A nother accomplished musical artist and former classmate is
Tony Terrazas. Tony was introduced to the band by mutual friends and like his partners, has a rich imagination and practiced skill to match and add an invaluable dimension to the group’s music.
L ead singer
Caitlyn Mae, who is also the youngest member of the band was searching for other musicians to collaborate with for quite some time. Fighting the Villain was looking for a singer and once they all met; everyone realized the quest for a front-man was over and she became the next addition.
R ounding out the group is the heartbeat of the band,
Danny Brown, who first met Tony when they played in a previous punk band in 2002. The two lost touch with each other until Danny was invited to a show where Fighting the Villain was performing. Certain that Danny was right for this band, he then became the final piece to this puzzle.
W ith all the elements in place, Fighting the Villain was now ready to get down to the business of making music. With a demo in place in 2007, they are currently looking for written representation with a recording label. The band currently released their debut E.P. titled “Turn To The Ruins“, which was released in May of 2008. With their combined skills, talent and creativity,
Fighting the Villain is definitely setting the pace!
