Their story goes way back, though. Jeppe and René met in 1993 while still at school and found a mutual love for bands like Deep Purple, Rainbow and Black Sabbath. A year later they formed their first band together, which after a couple of name changes ended up as Mandrake Root - named after a Purple song. René met Rasmus in late 1995 and formed the blues rock band Painted Horse (another Purple song), with Jeppe joining on drums in late '96. Also in the band was keyboard player Mark Pedersen. Painted Horse fell apart in late '97 and was followed by Krackerjack featuring Jeppe and René. Jeppe left and rejoined Krackerjack over the next couple of years and has been back in the group since 2006. Rasmus joined Krackerjack in 2001 and is still their bassplayer. René has been the only consistent member of the band throughout their ten year existence.
In 2007 the three friends played a couple of gigs in their hometown under the name The Usual Suspects - the name joking a bit on the fact that they've played together so many times in so many different bands - doing a bunch of rock and blues covers. This trio format spurred an interest in taking things a step further, and in January 2008 the name changed to Cöck Röckers and original songs started to appear amongst the covers. In April the name changed once again to the more sober The Dirt.
The style is classic kick ass rock with inspiration from bands like Guns N' Roses, AC/DC, Mötley Crüe and Motörhead.
