About Me

Roctoba formerly known as J-roc is a multi-talented artist who rap, produce, engineer musical sounds, edit videos (adobe premier) and also well known for his priceless graphical skill with photoshop. He always tell people that god blessed him for the ability to do all of those things but making music is and always will be his priority in life. He established a buzz after performing on a television station called BCAT. After all the good feedback from viewers he was featured on many different showcases/concerts which also gave him the opputunity to meet and battled Wyclef Jean in 2006 by Platinum Sound studio in Manhattan.
Roctoba was originally born in port-au-prince Haiti on Oct. 9th 1986 right before his twin died at birth. He is the youngest and the only boy out of 4 older sisters. The artist spent 8 yrs without a father figure until the family migrated to the united states in 1995. Raised in Brooklyn, New York, Roctoba grew up watching his influencial father play the guitar and fell in love with the music. At the age of 12, he began writing lyrics/songs on his own then started spending time at a local Recording studio consistantly. Rather than following the music industry standard, Roctoba deliveres a unique style where all his mainstream/underground fans can relate to.
In 2003 Roctoba won best freestyling championship trophy in George Wingate High School judged by the Legendary M.C Lyte and 2 A&R reps who worked with many different artist in the industry. In early 2006-2007 Roctoba was discovered by Dotted Line records which took the interest in giving him a recording contract, After H.S graduation he found himself in a much better position which gave him more time to really focus on his music career.
