Gravity Wheel

About Me

Gravity Wheel were formed from the ashes of legends in their own lunchtime Wolverhampton indie band The Sandkings, mixed with a fresh out of 'mashed up head from too much techno at Coventry Eclipse' whizzkid. Glenn Dodd and Lee 'pezza' Perry met on the upstairs second from back row seats of the 559 bus to Ashmore Park, and within 15 minutes had plotted a manifesto for world domination of the technorockelectronica market, which was convenient as it hadn't been invented yet. Several demos later they were signed to Cleveland City records, and released the 'Gravitation' ep, which was favourably received and played by the likes of Pete Tong. They then recorded for Distance Records, releasing 'Weird Shit Happens/This is...' as a double A sided 12'' single, followed by the 'Bulldogtunawasp' LP in 1998. The band expanded to a six piece for live shows within the length and breadth of the country and Europe, including Fantazia 97 at the G-Mex in Manchester in front of 12,000 sweaty arsed ravers. The band imploded in 1999 on the eve of the millenium, after consuming one or two too many dico biscuits, confining themselves to a bygone century, when things seemed so much simpler. Much missed but never forgotten by their bank managers, they remain an integral part of Wolverhampton's rich tapestry.
