Teratoma

Teratoma Zero : The Stem Cell
Ter·a·to·ma :
A tumor consisting of different types of tissue, as of skin, hair, and muscle, caused by the development of independent germ cells.
The word teratoma comes from Greek and means roughly "monstrous tumor". A haunting image, the Teratoma can resemble the remains of a botched Siamese twin and have been reported to contain hair, teeth, bone and very rarely more complex organs such as eyeball, torso, and hand. In light of the ethical issues surrounding the source of human stem cells, teratomas are being looked at as an alternative source for research since they lack the potential to grow into functional human beings.
The Project :
What started out as an ambient jam session quickly turned into Teratoma in it's current manifestation, a collaboration between Joel Collet (Aka Toxia / Death Haze) and Pete OHearn. Contrasting the minimal drones of Toxia with the lush, organic soundscapes of Pete OHearn, Teratoma is an exploration into the dark corners of the subconcious.
