Influences: All kinds of stuff! We have ADD when it comes to genre and sound. LOL! There's been so many great writers and bands from various genres and decades that each play their part in the huge puzzle of great music and influence of what can be done with production and songwriting. It's all in how you want to express a song for what the song is saying, and what genre it fits into. But just to throw a few major players out there who've caught our ear and touched our soul: Journey (Steve Perry is my all time favorite vocalist and many people in our area come to see our Journey cover set because we pour everything we have into it), Heart (I learned to sing to Ann Wilson's records), Steely Dan (the GREATEST fusion band in the world), Restless Heart (one of the biggest influences on the new country sound...definitely. They started that sound in the 80's and it trickled down into what you hear today). Some of the greatest guitar players in the world: Greg Howe (absolutely the best of the best), Reb Beach, George Lynch, Neal Schon, Walter Becker (Steely Dan), Nuno Bettencourt, Tony McAlpine, John Mayer (tops in the field amoung newer generation music in jazz-rock/pop fusion)...and an unsigned indie artist right here on MySpace, GUY DARBY. PLEASE check out his tracks: MONKEYJIVE and RACQUETBALL. These tracks just SHINE. (Guy you are amazing, my friend! Much love and success in all you do.)The classic rock and southern rock bands of the 70's and 80's that aren't already listed: Fleetwood Mac, Eagles, Queensryche, YES, Extreme, Poison, J. Geils Band, Kansas, Boston, Allman Brothers, Whitesnake....Loverboy (we cover a wicked version of Turn Me Loose! LOL!), and WINGER...(Um...sorry Kip Winger got the rough end of the deal because he was too damned good looking and everyone focused on that instead of paying attention to his songwriting. Especially his later works! This guy KNOWS theory and is a musical genius.) Check out Winger's songs Down Incognito and Rainbow in the Rose (one of the greatest progressive rock songs ever IMO!) if you haven't already. It's one of Reb Beach's most fluid, memorable and absolutely impeccable guitar solos ever. The original rocks, but the NEWER video version on YouTube shows just how much the band has evolved and grown over time.Hmmm, since we're going all the way here, we must also mention a couple of the best pop/rock Americana writers. Mellencamp...Petty, Springsteen, etc. who've lent influence and artistic vision.I absolutely LOVE Chicago....Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is, Saturday In the Park (old school) and later No Tell Lover (with Peter Cetera) are some of my all time faves. I love the Doobie Brothers original version and I love them with Michael McDonald. I love Michael McDonald solo as well.Let's take a look at some "one hit wonders"..those who maybe only had one "major" hit, but who's music is phenomenal and people maybe just don't know enough about them: Bobby Caldwell: What You Won't Do For Love. That song is classic, timeless and indelible in my mind!! Bobby's music is GORGEOUS jazz. Check him out here on MySpace. Player: Baby Come Back. Starbuck: Moonlight Feels Right. Who'd EVER heard a XYLOPHONE solo in a Top 40 pop song?? But HOLY $!T that one is the mother of all and unforgettable. Head East: Never Been Any Reason (yep, we cover it and whoa!)...PABLO CRUISE is one of my all time faves too. Whatcha Gonna Do, Don't Wanna Live Without It, Place in the Sun...anything from the "Worlds Away" album (I have it in iPod and original VINYL verson too.) There's many others. Pick your own! LOL!There's the classics: Aretha, Smokey Robinson, Etta James, Sam Cooke...pop and soul artists from the 70's and 80's...Prince, Phil Collins, Earth Wind & Fire, Little River Band (remember them? ;-) etc. etc. and the country artists that are classic and revolutionary from Johnny Cash to Loretta Lynn to the contemporary artists like Faith Hill, Shania, Tim McGraw... Rascal Flatts (absolutely drop dead amazing harmonies!). I could go on and on. Every genre and decade has had those who've made indelible marks in the world of music....remarkable, innovative and influential things they've done whether it was in writing or production or both.Bottom line: Inspiration and influence comes from whatever and whoever moves your soul and touches your heart. Hope you've enjoyed this walk down memory lane and my very best wishes to all the artists here on MySpace. :-) Cindy
