Afternoon Classics

About Me

The AFTERNOON CLASSICS duet has been performing in public for several years focusing mostly on light, easy-listening kind of music. A remarkable violin & piano combo is presenting popular and light jazz repertoire which is greatly demanded and appreciated by the listeners in Toronto and GTA.
Raised in the beautiful centre of Russian rocket science in Moscow suburbs - Kaliningrad (now Korolyov) Julia started her studies of classical violin and piano at the city's famous music school from the tender age of 7. Through Julia's University years she continued her love for music playing with the University Chamber Ensemble. Moving abroad to Toronto, Canada has broaden Julia's interest in a variety of musical genres and in recent times has been focusing on Grappelli style taking Jazz violin lessons from Rodion Boshoer , lead performer of Clubdjango . Julia is currently involved with several musical projects in the Toronto area and is continuing to evolve as a musician.
Born in Leningrad, USSR (now St.Petersburg, Russia), Sergey studied classic piano in the class of Natalia Prokhorova, Professor of the St.Petersburg Academic Capella, and theory of music by Serguei Belimov, a famous avant-garde composer. His way to jazz began at the David Goloschokin's Jazz Café and at the Quadrat jazz club of Leningrad/St. Petersburg. Having experience in many genres of modern music allows him to adjust to various performing styles. Presently Sergey is involved into several musical projects in the Greater Toronto Area.
Julia and Sergey are also members of the Jazz Inclusive band that performs mostly swing & jazz music.
