Shawn Minnis, better known as DJ ShOw, has always had a genuine love for music. Since the tender age of 8, this Bronx-native has been in the presence of DJs, taking notes and assisting them when he could. However, it wasn't until the 8th grade that ShOw decided to pursue djing as a hobby. On his 13th birthday, his father took him to purchase his first set of turntables and a mixer. A year later, you could find ShOw djing at various house parties throughout his neighborhood. By the age of 16, djing became all that ShOw wanted to do.
After graduating high school with honors, ShOw decided to attend the University at Albany to complete his collegiate studies, where he is currently pursuing a Bachelors Degree in Communications with a Business minor. Upon his arrival in Albany, ShOw wasted no time observing the radio and DJ scene in Albany. Shortly afterwards, ShOw linked up with DJ Playboy, who at the time was the Urban Director at 90.9 WCDB. ShOw became interested in the production aspect of radio, and began to intern for Playboy during his shows.
Near the end of his first semester, ShOw and Playboy joined forces and co-founded Money Talks Entertainment (MTE). MTE initially produced and distributed two mix tapes, The Takeover Hip Hop Series and Grown & Sexy R&B Series, which was distributed locally throughout the Albany area. MTE later recruited a third member, DJ Sunkiss. Together, these three products of NYC overtook the Albany DJ scene. They are the masterminds behind the “Pull It Up†Reggae Series, which was distributed locally and through websites, thus increasing MTE's market to a worldwide level.
The Money Talks Entertainment CEO currently hosts his own radio show every Wednesday night at 8pm on 90.9 WCDB-Albany (which is also broadcast live via stream on www.WCDBfm.com) and is the mix show coordinator of the Urban Department at the radio station. Along with being part of the DJ crew the Knockout Kingz, ShOw is the official DJ for independent record label Bottom Line Entertainment and their flagship artist Rover, as well as the official DJ for the promotions company Methud Entertainment. This hard-working, dedicated young man seeks to become a global household name. With his skills, talent, and devotion, he will, without a doubt, accomplish and surpass this goal.
