I love spending time with my friends - going to the bars; having people over for dinner, drinks and whatever else... spending the hot days sitting outside tanning w/ cocktails, traveling, playing poker, reading. I am also interested in fashion, in addition to yoga, dancing, music, spending time with friends and meeting knew ones. Photography/art, having girls nights out, walking my dog at the beach or in the woods, spending time with family, cooking and creating in the kitchen.
I would like to reconnect with old friends and meet new ones. I would like to meet people who are goal/career oriented and not just sitting on their ass. I would like the person to be aware of what is going on in the world and can speak something of substance but not close minded, someone with an objective point of view. Definately someone who can hold an intelligent conversation but also knows' how to have a good time. Someone who likes to argue and will speak their own mind, always be opinated. Being a little crazy is always a good thing. Someone who likes to go out for drinks but can remember what happened the night before. Someone who has class, sophistication and is cultured. Someone who can recommend a great author to read and also a great bar. I like balance in my life and with the people I meet.
Classic Rock, Rock n Roll, 50's, 60's, 70's 80's---I think you get the idea. My favorite would be Led Zepplin but I love everything from contemporary to the classics. I enjoy some country -going to school in Ohio had something to do with that. I also like opera, classiscal, hip-hop ( not main-stream) folk music and many others.Favorite bands vary: As I mentioned Led Zepplin is number one but I also love Rolling Stones, Lynard Skynard, Dion, Marianne Faithful, Eva Cassidy, Arrosmith, Fuel, Seether, The Guess Who, The Kinks, Tribe, Alice Peacock, Grateful Dead, The Zombies, Common, Dead Prez, Kelly Clarkson, Atmosphere, OAR as you can see I am quite versatile and love being introduced to knew music and musicians.
I love the independent films and ones that are thought provoking and draw controversy and a deep conversation afterwards. Where you leave the movie theather speachless, wich I realize contradicts the deep conversation statement.Okay I just saw "Little Miss Sunshine" and I can't remember when I laughed so hard during a movie it hurt. It was humerous, heartwarming and so incredibly simple that it was beautiful. GO SEE IT, IF YOU HAVE NOT ALREADY!!!And then sometimes your just in the mood to laugh outloud or be a girl in highschool again so I love Old School, Wedding Crashers, Mean Girls, Sixteen Candles, Pretty in Pink, Say Anything, How to loose a Guy in Ten Days.. Others include one of my favorites: The Constant Gardner, The Little Mermaid, Walstreet, Pieces of April, Pacific Heights, Crash, The Goonies, Clueless is an absolute classic watch over and over type of movie, Garden State and many others, I am tbat type of person who can watch the same over and over again if I like it.I also love 80's (About Last Night) is one of my favorites and Disney movies in addition to romantic comedys and mystery, even a scary movie sometimes if I have someone around to watch it with me.
Best show on TV is Traveler and I am sooooooo angry with ABC for canceling it, I honestly think it is too controversial and that is why they're pulling it. The United States government responsible for domestic bombing and terrorist threats to enstill fear in the American peopple, hmm interesting is all I have to say. I would love to meet the writers of this show and see where there inspiration comes from. All fiction is a form of truth and more people should have watched this show. I hope another network picks it up but doubtful.. finally something worth watching and it's alredy gone.I also enjoy Desperate Housewives, Footballer Wives, Grey's Anatomy, Entourage, Gilmore Girls, OC and Friends and That 70's Show.I have to say I just got into that show "Weeds" last season and brillantly done. Everything about it is fantastic from the acting, introduction to it's sattire and honest truth.
I love to read, I am that person who walks down the street with her face in a book. I love everything from non-fiction to fiction, whether its about politics, romance, human interest, memoirs -- I'll read it. Favorites are: Power of One, Memoirs of a Geisha, White Oleander, I just read "Den of Thieves" "Liar's Poker" and "Mail" and now finishing up a Nick Hornby novel. I am getting more into the John Le' Carre and Elizabeth George.Okay, I have just finished reading "A Long Way Gone" and I can not stress the beauty and horror of this book. I was walking down the streets of Chicago reading this book, it is written in such a profound, provactive way where we can't help but laugh and cry with him, share his journey and struggle. This book will enlighten you and show you have incredibly fortunate we are and how incredibly unjust this world truely is but also shows that one person or in this case many people can make a difference. Please read this book and you are able to, go hear him speak!!!And to add another great book to the list, The Tender Bar by J.R. Moehringer, it's fantastic. His memoir is captivating and a brillant illustration of his life and his bar.
My mum.
