About Me

Began Shakuhachi study in 1994, teachers include Tomie Hahn, Steven Rowland, David Wheeler, and currrently Kawase Junsuke III, Iemoto of Kinko Ryuu Chikuyusha. I frequently perform as well as teach in the Princeton Nj area, and in New York City.　Some highlights include the Coalition For Peace Action's Nagasaki/Hiroshima Memorial; Yearly Lunar New Year and MidAutumn Festival recitals at Holsome Tea in Princeton; the Rutgers Japanese club's Sakura Matsuri; doing a history/background lecture and performance for High School Japanese classes in Newark; providing music for Shumei New York events; and accompanying Ishigure Masayo Sensei's Sawai Koto Academy at the Tokyo Fiesta in Grand Central Station, the yearly summer Japanese Music Festival in Central park, as well as other venues. I play Kinko-ryuu Honkyoku and Modern pieces, but have particular affinity for Jiuta/Sokyoku and pieces from the early 20th century, as in Miyagi Michio and Fukuda Rando compositions.　Lately I have been performing often with piano accompaniment for these pieces. Other than shakuhachi, I teach Taijiquan and study Tea Ceremony and Chinese Calligraphy, as well as various other facets of Japanese and Chinese culture and philosophy.１９９４年、尺八の勉強を始めまし㠁Ÿã€‚今アメリカに住んでいますが、時々日本㠁«è¡Œã£ã¦å·ç€¬é †è¼”先生の元で勉強をしていま㠁™ã€‚ 琴古流本曲から現代ものまで吹けますが特に 三曲が好きです。1930å¹´ä»£ã®æ›²ã‚‚å¥½ãã§ã€æœ€è¿ ‘ã€ã‚ˆãã€å®®åŸŽé“é›„ã‚„ç¦ç”°è˜­ç«¥ã®æ›²ã‚’ãƒ”ã‚¢ãƒŽä¼ ´å¥ã§å¹ã„ています。 尺八以外に、太極拳を教えています。表千家 茶道や中国風書道も習っています。
