About Me
Heyya! My name is Joy Isabel, originally from Manila, Philippines. I am currently residing here in Dublin, Ireland.Ever since I was a kid, I really love to sing. I started singing at the age of 4. In fact, I can still remember this age when I tried to persuade my Parents to let me join in a singing contest... However, they didn't allow me because I'm so young and they were kidding me that I don't even know a song as I just keep mumbling the lyrics. lol :) Also, my Parents were too busy with our family business so no one will look after me. It was my God-mother who discovered my talent in singing. She encouraged me to study in a music school. My Parents eventually noticed too that I am really into music. At the age of 6, they sent me to a music school. That's where I developed my skills in pop music, pop style of singing, and playing some instruments like piano and organ. At the age of 7, my dream of joining a singing contest came true. I won 1st place when I sang the song of Mariah Carey's "Love takes time". I've been an undefeated champion for about 5 years, received 3 years achievement award from one of the music schools I've attended to and have been a Grand Prix Champion of Yamaha Singing Competition in 1997. As far as I can remember my other winning pieces were I have nothing (Whitney Houston), Unchained Melody (Rock version by Ana & Soraya), When you tell me that you love me (Diana Ross) and etc.At the age of 11, I joined the Pocahontas singing contest at RPN channel 9. Unfortunately, I was just a runner-up but that didn't end my dream of pursing singing. That's where I was discovered by a talent agent and offered me to become a mainstay of 'Penpen de Sarapen' formerly known as the 'longest running Youth TV show on-air in the Philippines'. Eventually, I became the co-host of the programme.Through that youth programme, that opened me more opportunities as well as gaining more links into different organizations and people from the entertainment industry that led me into working with good songwriters, sound engineers, producer, big productions, and other very good well-known singers in the Philippine Music Industry. Also, I became a segment host of Columbia Candy Ltd (famous candy factory back home sponsoring our youth program with RPN channel 9)I just didn't focus with my singing career that time. I was also a full-time student. I finished University level, did lots of travelling and gigs and concerts too. Concurrently, I finally started recording my first debut album "Joy Isabel". It has 10 songs in the album (9 original songs written by Bernadette Guttierez, Snaffu Rigor, Christine Bendebel, Rose del Rosario & Kathryn Lozano... and 1 revival song original by Sheryl Cruz). My debut album is still on the market and you can grab it at any local music store in the Philippines or you can visit the Kabayan Central.com at http://www.kabayancentral.com/music/various/mmjivrk210.htmlI
was also part of the "Various Artist OFW (Overseas Filipino Worker) Album" distributed by Galaxy Records with Kyla, Dulce, Gino Padilla, Karen Timbol, Lloyd Zaragoza, Sarah Balabagan, Michael Laygo, Garry Cruz, April Boys and a lot more... Here I sang "Aking Itay" (My Papa - English version included in my debut album) composed by Rose del Rosario. This song is very special for me because this song is dedicated for my dad. Aking Itay is one of the featured songs in my debut album. If you wanna get a copy of the Various Artist OFW album, please visit Kabayan Central.com at http://www.kabayancentral.com/music/various/mmgrcd249.html

(For all the Filipinos who supported my self-debut album, thanks so much! I really appreciated all your help)In 2003, I was chosen to be the lead female soloist of the Music Video (MTV) “POPE†Only Selfless Love by Columbia Candy International with the Official Vatican Logo for the 4th World Meeting of the Families (directed by: Louie Ignacio - Director of GMA 7s SOP Sunday Noon Show) This video won different awards from different huge award-giving bodies such as the Best MTV of the Catholic Mass Media Awards (CMMA), Award of Excellence of the ANVIL Awards, and Best Innovative Award in New York Festival.I was also a part of the "Psalms in Calaruega Album". This is a compilation of Psalms by the Dominican Fathers. For those who are residing in Manila, you can get a copy of this album at the Sto. Domingo Church.Unfortunately, I wasn't able to promote my debut album well in the Philippines because I've left the country for my studies. However, I'm still singing up to date. Nothing changed. I am just hoping to go back soon, promote my album, and make more music. I am looking forward to continue sharing my music to everyone.Actually, I am not closing my doors for other artist who would like to collaborate music with me. I really would like to explore more.Anyway, kindly bear with myspace page at the moment but I will try to keep this updated as possible. Please don't hesitate to add me, post a comment, or send me a message. Thanks and luv yah all! CHEERS EVERYONE!!! :)
