I was raised on stolen slurpees and Run-DMC. Someone once said I'm like a 1970s b-movie character, and I'm still not sure if that was a compliment or an insult. My hair is always standing up. I've got about 21 stitches in various parts of my body; most of which are in my skull. I'm an audiophile. I'm obsessed with the paranormal and have been having recurring dreams of old living quarters and half-open doors. Now that I'm in my late 20s, I recently bought my first car and I'm already prone to Road Rage. It's like tourettes but it goes away as soon as I step out of my car. I like my record collection. I also like Haruki Murakami. And Hanif Kureishi too. And Leonard Cohen. And Heather Graham, but for a completely different reason. I cut up guitar licks and the voices of friends and former lovers and spin them backwards in the middle of the night. After a 3-year love affair with atonal left-field breaks, I've renewed my affectation for melody. I used to wear green cuz' De Niro said its the colour of genius. I've since smartened up. I doubt I'll ever buy an iPod. I have a band called Axis Of Conversation. We play the song you're hearing right now, but we have better ones that you'll only find at shows and on our recording. Speaking of which, I honestly think you'll like it. Or something about it, anyway. We've already started the next one and it feels like our dirty secret. You can probably tell I like my band. They're great people too. I also work for the CBC as a music journalist and some-time xmas tree decorator.Am I joking? Nope. Nice to meet you.

It has come to my attention that I'm no longer a writer.I'm not sure how or why or when, but if I told you how long it took me to form the above sentence, you'd be convinced I'm telling the truth.&nbs... Posted by chris dela torre on Tue, 27 Jun 2006 10:56:00 PST
