Dulcinea Hawksworth, owner of Little Black Book Events, is producing and directing The Vagina Monologues. There will be 2 benefit performances with 100 percent of the proceeds going to the Will County Sexual Assault Services Center.
"I am doing this show because Will County needs a V-Day presence," Hawksworth said. "It's an important cause and Sexual Assault Services Center does amazing work with the people they serve."
This is the eleventh year that The Vagina Monologues has been used to promote a larger cause, V-Day. The V-Day movement began on Valentine's Day, 1998, with a benefit performance of "The Vagina Monologues" at New York's Hammerstein Ballroom. Since then V-Day performances have taken place around the world between February 14th and April 30th to raise money for organizations that provide services to victims/survivors of various forms of violence.
**The first performance** is at 7 p.m., April 4 at the Universalist
Unitarian Church of Joliet, 3401 W. Jefferson.
**The second** is at 7 p.m., April 25 at Ambrosia, 2771 Black Road.
