About Me

ARTIST BIOCIRRUS MINOR Mike Ruby – Guitar, main vocals Aaron Lea – Bass, backup vocals Rich Cantrell – Keyboards, harmonica, vocals Mackenzie Fleener – Drums and percussionIn a state where blues and metal dominate the musical landscape, a void was growing. Depressing and angry music was in such abundance that the happy "party time" vibe of concerts in the past became harder and harder to find. Fans looking for an enjoyable, feel-good concert placated themselves with cover bands as the music scene seemed to be changing forever. So, in early 2008, a band was formed to try to bring the feel-good vibe of the big festivals (Bonnaroo, Wakarusa, 10K, etc...) to life at venues around the midwest; and to do so with original music. This band is Cirrus Minor. Started by Aaron Lea, Mackenzie Fleener, Mike Ruby, and Rich Cantrell, Cirrus Minor's influences are as varied as the main stage lineup of any festival- from Pink Floyd to Bob Marley, Primus to Kansas, Frank Zappa to Tool, and beyond. Cirrus minor has brought their unique blend of rock, funk, jazz, raggae, and psychedelia to venues and festivals around Iowa in 2008, and, with the release of their new album, are poised to spread the party throughout the midwest in 2009.A BRIEF HISTORYIn February 2008 Aaron Lea and Mackenzie Fleener, having experienced the big festivals and realizing the lack of that type of concert experience in the midwest, called Mike Ruby, a guitar player that they had seen play in the local cover band Alchemist. Things clicked at the first jam session, and thus Cirrus Minor was born as a 3-piece band. The music was fun and funky, and the Cirrus Minor power-trio played at a charity benefit show an hour and a half from their hometown to rave reviews. After that first show, they all felt that their sound needed to be fuller and more dynamic, so Mike called his friend and colleague, keyboardist Rich Cantrell. This brought in new sounds and influences and allowed Cirrus Minor to grow into the band you hear today. Cirrus Minor's live show is an interactive audio-visual experience. Multi colored lasers and psychedelic effect lighting add intensity, while custom balloons and glowsticks engage the audience in a surreal experience- a musical roller-coaster ride through many genres of original music, improvisation, and the occasional re-interpretation of beloved classics. Every time Cirrus Minor takes the stage new fans are made and existing fans are treated to a unique show thanks to their consistently changing set lists and improvisation. Every promoter/booking agent who has worked with Cirrus Minor has offered to have them back for return shows, with several referring them to other promoters. With the release of their new album, Cirrus Minor is poised to establish themselves as one of the midwest’s premier touring acts in 2009. Already slated to play several regional festivals, Cirrus Minor is continuing to work diligently to get on bigger festivals and in more cities to build the foundation to launch a national, and hopefully international, career.--------- You should create your own MySpace Layouts like me by using nUCLEArcENTURy .COM's MySpace Profile Editor !
