Here is how it started: Playing guitar since the age of 4, Alex showed early signs of picking up the instrument pretty well. When he was 9, he auditioned for a reality TV show, called "Finding Julian's Band", which featured now 5 yr. old drumming prodigy Julian Pavone. At the same audition was 7 year old Vincent Fondale. Both kids won spots on the TV show. In March 2007, Vince and Alex sat in at the Cleveland Agora with Nostalgia Cleveland, a local classic rock band. A video from that performance was submitted to Yahoo.com. The editor's at Yahoo featured the video of the kids playing Journey "Lights" on the front page, getting over 300,000 views in an hour. Most recently, a video of Vince and Alex and their new band, Recess, was again featured on Yahoo's front page, this time creating a huge internet buzz. The internet encyclopedia Wikipedia, even mentions the video on Journey's Wikipedia page, and also the page for the song "Separate Ways". Here is the mention: In mid April 2009 Cleveland, Ohio area classic rock kids band Recess were featured on the front page of Yahoo.com due to their remarkably high quality performance of Separate Ways captured on video during a kids talent show in Cleveland. Between Yahoo video, YouTube and other video sharing sites, the video has been viewed over a million times in less than a week since its release, with hundreds of astonished rave review comments from viewers — many of whom are longtime Journey fans.[5] Of particular note are the guitar, vocal and drumming performances turned in by an 11 year old and two 9 year olds respectively, as well as the overall 'tightness' of the band's performance.More on Julian Pavone. Julian has been featured on Oprah, Good Morning America, Martha Stewart, and more, and has just signed a contract for a TV series called "Finding Julian's Band, All You Need Is Music". He recently became the drummer for the Legendary Motown group the Contours, at age 5! The first tv episode was taped in early December-Recorded at Motown Museum and featured Julian, Martha Reeves, 4 Tops, Temptations, and the Contours. OK more stuff on Alex: In fall of 2008, he played at the Whiskey a GoGo in Hollywood, and received a guitar endorsement from Dean Guitars, at age 11. March 2009, he was invited to play the Star Spangled Banner at the Quicken Loans Arena, for the MAC Conference Mens and Women's final's game, view video right on this page, Yahoo features the video on their "Got Talent" Network. Next, in April 09, Yahoo again features Alex's band, Recess, this time, on the front page, the video receives over 1 million views for a cover of the Journey song "Separate Ways". Recess is fronted by 10 yr old amazing vocalist Vincent Fondale, video's on this page. And again, May 2009, a video of Alex singing and playing "Sweet Child O Mine" gets featured on Yahoo, and now has nearly 400,000 views in within a month. Combined, his video's have been viewed over 4 million times on the internet. Here are some other accomplishments:*Recorded CD at age 9, with Legendary bassist Ralphe Armstrong, from the Mahavishnu Orchestra/Jon Luc Ponty. *It was also produced by 3-time Grammy winner Mark Pastoria from Harmonie Park Studio's in Detroit. *Played for crowd's of up to 5,000 people when he was 9, at Nelson Ledges State Park in Ohio. *Played live on the morning show's at WGN TV in Chicago, and Fox 8 in Cleveland Morning show in Winter, 2008. Performed solo on the TV show 15 minutes of fame, jr., taped in Nashville, aired on Nashville TV.
