Duran Duran: "Serious" video...
..

Another of my favorite old videos... Pet Shop Boys' (with Dusty Springfield) "What Have I Done To Deserve This?"
.. .. ....

Movies:

I love silent movies, especially Chaplin films.
Of Chaplin's work, City Lights is my favorite (and possibly my favorite film, period), but Gold Rush, The Kid, The Circus, and many of his short films (especially the Mutuals) are right up there.
The movie "Chaplin" about his life is great, too. ...Also, anything with Keaton or Fairbanks is aces.
Citizen Kane - Monty Python and the Life of Brian - Little Big Man - South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut - Monty Python and the Holy Grail - Monty Python's Meaning of Life - Batman Begins - Casino Royale (the recent one... just incredible) - Tie Me Up! Tie Me Down! (Almodovar rules) - Orgazmo - The Cameraman (Buster Keaton) - Cannibal the Musical - BASEketball - Last of the Mohicans (the one with Day-Lewis and Stowe) - Office Space - Star Trek 2: Wrath of Khan - Clerks - Glory - Young Guns 2 (What? Shut up!) - Kids in the Hall: Brain Candy - Star Trek: First Contact - Team America: World Police - Dogma - Memento - Amadeus - The Breakfast Club - National Lampoon's Vacation (just the first one) - Any film by Bernardo Bertolucci - The Wild Bunch - Spider-Man I & II - The X-Men movies - Superman I, II, & Returns - Star Trek: Generations - Super Troopers - aaaaand just way more than I can even begin to think of.

Television:

To be honest, I've watched almost no TV in the past couple years or so, and I know I've missed out on some very cool shows from the past few years, but I'll name some of my favorites...

Monty Python's Flying Circus, Kids in the Hall, Black Adder, Fawlty Towers, South Park, Simpsons, Venture Bros., Red Dwarf, Newsradio, Chappelle's Show, Reno 911, TV Funhouse, The Daily Show, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Harvey Birdman Attorney at Law, Insomniac with Dave Attell, Smallville, Survivor, Phil Silvers Show (Sgt. Bilko), Mr. Show, The Office, Sealab 2021, Space Ghost: Coast to Coast, Justice League Unlimited, The State, Mr. Bean, Late Night with Conan O'Brien, Mystery Science Theatre 3000... and most of the stuff on channels like History, Discovery, National Geographic, Travel, Food Network, etc...

...And Good Eats! The only cooking/food show you'll ever need. Alton Brown is a genius, and one hell of a cool, funny guy.

Books:

Big Douglas Adams fan... the Hitchhikers' Guide books are great. The first two Red Dwarf books are right up there, too... in some ways, I find them even funnier. ...Phillip K. Dick's work is great. I've appreciated Conrad's Heart of Darkness more and more with each reading.

Otherwise, not counting comic books, I usually tend to prefer non-fiction books, especially biographies. ...Which is weird, since I hope to be a fiction writer.

For comic books, I read DC titles, and have since I was a kid (except for most of my late teens and early twenties, when I spent my money on partying and what not, instead (no regrets about that, I assure you).

Heroes:

Sir Charles Chaplin, Ben Franklin, Teddy Roosevelt, those who forged Labor Unions, the Pony Express riders... there are many more, to varying degrees.
...Anyone who had the character and resolve to put their neck on the line to help people or advance our species, in spite of ridicule, witch-hunters, or pressure/persecution from society, the government, or any formidable institution.

...Oh, and the creators behind the old The Fox and The Crow comics, and Alton Brown, of course.
