About Me

I started playing guitar about 16. I have been writing songs and music on and off since then. Due to the absense of good vocals and finding lyric writing to be a tedious process, I have veered more towards writing music than actual songs. I made 2 unreleased albums between 1997 - 1999 which were guitar and vocal based - 'The Lost Horizon' and 'Ard áulin'. These were made on an old Tascam 4-Track recorder and the production was fairly horrendous to be quite honest. Hopefully you will never get the chance to hear my poor singing on these, but there were a few decent musical moments on them I suppose. I then developed an interest in electronic music and djing about the age of 19 / 20, and this has beared an important influence on the material I write. I gradually started making music on the computer and made a few tracks which were not great but gave me the chance to learn a bit about making music in a studio or on a computer. Around 2002 a decision was made to do a third album ("Soundscapes of time)" which would be made mainly using software instead of the 4-Track. Initially I had a frenzy of writing and came up with some material that I was quite happy with. That phase ended and I took a break but had another good phase and got 90% of the album done. Unfortunately things slowed up a lot after that and it's still not finished! Most of my time has been spent recording other artists. I have however finished quite a few seperate non album tracks since then, but my new year's resolution is to get the album finished! In terms of collaborations, I have been in two bands in my time - 'Hysteria' and then 'Relic' but neither band really progressed too much, although it was a lot of fun. If I was to be in a band again I would like to be in a band that centres themselves around improvisation, maybe a crude form of jazz or early pink floyd with a hint of electronics! Please check out my site: www.guitar-warehouse.com for great deals on strings (Exilir, Martin, D'addarion, Ernie Ball), guitars, basses, electro acoustic guitar, electric guitars etc. you will not find guitar strings cheaper anywhere else in Ireland.
