The Dependants

About Me

The Dependants are four ambitious lads and one girl who hail from East Kilbride and Glasgow in Scotland. The quest began early 2008, The aim - To assemble a band of young, eager musicians who could drive and inspire each other to create compelling music and together become modern musical deity's. After a short period of time it became clear that the pre-requisite of youth should be scrapped and instead an eclectic bunch of slightly older more hairier musicians set out on the task ahead. Both sets of brothers had an indepth understanding of each others musical styles and aspirations whilst all three guitarists also had previous experience of jamming and performing together at various events and open stages. This formed the perfect foundations for the group and after a few practice sessions some interesting collaborations were born. As knowledge of each member's styles, abilities and intentions grew so did the complexity of the parts and the overall depth of the sound. How to combine and control the individual styles, tastes and ambitions was a thought on everyone’s mind however it soon became apparent that there was plenty of room for each member to add their own stamp to the mix helping to enhance and compliment the overall sound. This allowed for funky base lines merged with folky rhythms, bluesy jazz chords, off beat counter rhythms, rock/metal lead riffs, some hypnotic ambient overlays and fills and an overall compelling and tantalizing display of how musicians with polarizing tastes and influences can still combine to create mutually acceptable collaborations capable of satisfying the diversity of their musical desires whilst still producing exciting and original material for listeners who may also share an equally diverse range of tastes.
