Ras Ackeem is the second to last of 10 children and the last boy. From a young age he was involve in music, as with most Jamaican household he was brought up in the church.
Growing up Ras Ackeem thought that he was treated differently by his father and so at the age of 13 yrs old he ran away from home. He went to Spanish Town where he met some boys who was sleeping roughly in the market place. Ras Ackeem use his talent for singing to survive on the streets for almost 2 yrs.
One of his former school mate saw him and took him home where he become one of the family. His new found family introduce him to apprenticeship in the mechanic trade and later to the hotel trade. Ras Ackeem started off as a Porter and after the chef saw his potential made in start to come early to work where he could start training him in the catering trade. Not long after he became a chef at the breakfast bar and started to entertain the hotel’s guest with his charm and charisma.
One guest in particular took interest in him and this was to be his ticket out of the country to England. Ras Ackeem started to work within the trade he knew but deep down he still wanted to fulfil his dream to be a singer.
In 2006 this dream started to manifested into reality, he was discovered by Super Star Record where he did his first debut single called I’m on my way. He later moved to Pick Out Label where he recorded Holding on.
2007 was yet a better year for Ras Ackeem
• he worked with Stingray to record Mama Africa on his own record label Calabash Record and with
• Raspect Muzik to record Letter to MamaThe response that Ras Ackeem has had while appearing on local shows has given him the confident that he needs to prove that his voice is one in a million.To date the sale of these 2 singles has been tremendous, reaching every part of the globe.2008 is there and Ras Ackeem is now in the process of recorded and distributing his debut album by summer time.Bless
