Fastbuck

Richard and Vic met in early 1974 and after some initial rehearsals, performances and disputes, went their separate ways until late 1975 when a new more in-your-face outfit was envisaged. This was the beginning of what was to become an absorbing and tortuous relationship that has produced one of Melbourne's most interesting and often ignored songwriting partnerships. Fastbuck, once written up as "Purveyors of Porn Rock" by rock journalist Ross Stapleton, were always regarded as the bad boys of Melbourne's music scene and further afield as they toured their show around Australia. Constant line-up changes and aborted management and publishing deals became the norm until the outfit finally disbanded mid 1979. In 1984, Fastbuck posthumously released their 1978 demos as an independant 12" EP "Drinking with the Boys" (produced by Ross Wilson) which received rave reviews and remained in RRR's top 10 for over 12 months. It would be another 9 years before Richard and Vic would inflict themselves on each other and on an indifferent industry, writing and recording new songs as well as re-interpretations of some of their earlier works. So why are they at it again? ...... some people just never learn! and besides, can you wait another 15 years?
