You may have heard of LaRue in many different ways. Either on Kube 93 Sound Session, Kexp Street Sounds, or on Hip Hop 101 T.V. airing his hit single "Certified Hip Hop", produced by Rising Sun. Or you may have heard of LaRue on the EastCoast played on Free Mix Radio, in Washington D.C., airing his song "I'm A Soldier" Produced by Rising Sun. Or possibly you caught him performing with Names such as: Del The Funky Homosapien, Bukue One, Binary Star, One Below, Mr. Lif, Cage, Silent Lambs Project, Dyme Def, Damien Black, Serendipity, and More. Or last you may have read Larry Mizell write highly of the Seattle born MC in his column "My Philosophy, Hip Hop ya don't stop".Rising Sun and LaRue grew up as child hood friends in Des Moines, WA and later formed a duo that most can't believe is based in Seattle, Washington. Rising Sun, (Alvin Edwards), began producing after being inspired by producers such as 9th Wonder, Kanye West, Just Blaze, Nico'le, and many more. After making four beats a day for a whole year straight he found his style.LaRue, (JaWaan LaRue), began writing music at the age of 13 and started performing at High School Talent shows with a crew called "The Elimentz". After graduating High School LaRue joined the Army and the crew broke up. At Ft. Lewis, WA LaRue picked up a pen and pad and began writing music once again. There he began making mixtapes and handing them out in the Tacoma area by the 100s. After years of making music that sounds good he formed with Rising Sun to start making music thats real. " I started to notice everything i was writing wasn't true. I never sold dope or had a car on 20 inch rims so why am i writing about it", says LaRue. He began to make music that people can relate to. In 2006 he released his Album "I Can Only Be Me", but unfortunately due to poor marketing the album is rarely heard of. LaRue plans on Rereleasing the album soon with better marketing strategy due to fan request.
