Bill Retoff’s eagerly awaited second solo album has finally blasted out of the oven, and as expected it simmers with mouth-watering pop snacks that demand repeated listenings. A clean new wavish sheen blankets the hummable title track. Bill’s warm and fuzzy vocals correspond perfectly with the type of material he pens and performs. Aural visions of the Beau Brummels, the New Colony Six and the Monkees religiously manifest throughout REANIMATION, while patches of resonant folk rock shavings are also strewn about, giving the record a calm, cool and collected feel. Introspective verse, compact instrumentation and countless hooks are what Bill’s fresh faced compositions are baked of. ‘The Rain In Your Eyes’, ‘When Myth Becomes Fact’, ‘Transparent Man’ and ‘Goddess Thru An Empty Glass’ are only a quick run down of the great numbers on REANIMATION. Bill further gets a little help from his friends, as pop maestros Rich Arithmetic and Squires Of The Subterrain cordially lent their prowess to the album." --Beverly Paterson, TWIST AND SHAKE [USA]
"REANIMATION-directly when I heard this start, I knew that you had done it again !! ‘Loose Change’ is a wonderful 2 minute poptune that grabs from the first chord. And that 12-string ! ‘Goddess Thru An Empty Glass’ is a wonderful psychedelic Beatles-a’-la-Rubber Soul/Revolver." --Stefan Johannson, YESTERDAY GIRL RECORDS [SWEDEN]
"Bill Retoff rules"--email response [USA]
"REANIMATION picks up where Bill’s 1996 ‘POP JEWELRY’ CD left off and it showcases his growth as a songwriter, musician and producer....’The Rain In Your Eyes’ is a beautiful ballad with harmony vocals and a harmonica that will elicit memories of the ‘70s soft rock group, America....’Did She Lie To You?’ conjures up memories of The Hollies....’Ann’ displays Beatlesque elements....’Get Me Off Nothing Street’ is punchy power pop...."World Of Love’ is a soothing ballad....
‘Magic Smile’ revisits soft rock....REANIMATION displays Bill Retoff’s own vibrant sound in an album filled with sweet, snappy and timeless pop tunes and plenty of jangly ear candy. You’re 2-for-2, Bill." --Eric Sorensen, PURE POP [USA]
"Your new CD is the best yet !!" --Jeremy, JAM RECORDS [USA]
"REANIMATION...it sounds like a vintage Byrds album, sweet candies for me like in my youth !!" --Gerard Girard, POP DREAMS radio show [FRANCE]
"I listen to ‘When Myth Becomes Fact’ over and over. The 12-string riffs are choice ...your voice, words and melody are so perfectly joined into one effect." --fan response [USA]

Bill Retoff's first ventures into serious recording came in the early '90s, via the gang of four later to be known as Retoff, McKenzie, Butler & Pierce. On Bill's self-made label, Maize Records, the band put out six releases, including the landmark cassette, NOW CAN WE MEET THE MAHARISHI?, in 1994. These were eventually gathered up with loving care and issued on compact disc by Pop The Balloon Records in France as THE RETOFF, McKENZIE, BUTLER & PIERCE STORY.
More goodies followed, including his 1996 debut solo album, POP JEWELRY, in addition to three vinyl 45s and a small regiment of American and import compilation performances. Bill steadily forged a dedicated cult of listeners, building his rep and his sound on chiming guitars, block harmony vocals, and songs founded on a thorough working knowledge of '60s pop, with lyrics coming directly from the heart.Buy merch from Bill Retoff at www.zazzle.com/maizerecords
