Coyette grew up in the small rural central Oklahoma communities of Calumet and El Reno. She was raised around music. Her dad and uncles played guitars, and she knew from an early age she wanted to sing. She taught herself to play the guitar and bass guitar, and by the age of 14 she had her own band. Her and her band play across the states of Oklahoma, Texas, Missouri, Kansas, and New Mexico. Her CD can be heard on radio stations from New Mexico to Missouri as well as numerous juke boxes.
She has performed at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum (formerly the National Cowboy Hall of Fame), and for a number of years at the Annual Lincoln County Cowboy Symposium in Ruidoso, NM. She has played and sang with Vince Gill, Lynn Anderson, Asleep at the Wheel, The Texas Playboys, Benny Garcia, Jr., and Speedy West, Jr., among others. She has appeared on the XXXX River Ranch radio and TV show in Fort Worth, TX.
Coyette seizes the opportunity to help those less fortunate. Since 1990, she has performed a Christmas benefit for needy families in Canadian County. She performed a benefit for Jordan Weiss, a young boy who lost his mother in the May 3, 1999 tornado. She has played for families going through all types of tragedies; being it the loss of a loved one or their home, Coyette rallies around them. And it’s not always people in need that she helps, she and her band has held benefit concerts to raise money and awareness to aid Pets and People Humane Society of Yukon, Oklahoma.
Coyette wrote and composed all but one song on her CD, writing the title track, Oklahoma Wind, “Angie’s Song,†in memory of her younger sister who died of heart disease at the age of 12.
Coyette & The Haywire Band originate from Yukon, Oklahoma. With their country & southern rock roots, they generate a sound that is downright toe-tappin', get-up-and-dance, in-your-face country!..
