Coyette and the Haywire Band

About Me

Coyette grew up in the small rural central Oklahoma communities of Calumet and El Reno. She was raised around music. Her dad and uncles played guitars, and she knew from an early age she wanted to sing. She taught herself to play the guitar and bass guitar, and by the age of 14 she had her own band. Her and her band play across the states of Oklahoma, Texas, Missouri, Kansas, and New Mexico. Her CD can be heard on radio stations from New Mexico to Missouri as well as numerous juke boxes.

She has performed at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum (formerly the National Cowboy Hall of Fame), and for a number of years at the Annual Lincoln County Cowboy Symposium in Ruidoso, NM. She has played and sang with Vince Gill, Lynn Anderson, Asleep at the Wheel, The Texas Playboys, Benny Garcia, Jr., and Speedy West, Jr., among others. She has appeared on the XXXX River Ranch radio and TV show in Fort Worth, TX.

Coyette seizes the opportunity to help those less fortunate. Since 1990, she has performed a Christmas benefit for needy families in Canadian County. She performed a benefit for Jordan Weiss, a young boy who lost his mother in the May 3, 1999 tornado. She has played for families going through all types of tragedies; being it the loss of a loved one or their home, Coyette rallies around them. And it’s not always people in need that she helps, she and her band has held benefit concerts to raise money and awareness to aid Pets and People Humane Society of Yukon, Oklahoma.

Coyette wrote and composed all but one song on her CD, writing the title track, Oklahoma Wind, “Angie’s Song,” in memory of her younger sister who died of heart disease at the age of 12.

Coyette & The Haywire Band originate from Yukon, Oklahoma. With their country & southern rock roots, they generate a sound that is downright toe-tappin', get-up-and-dance, in-your-face country!..

Coyette Camper - Bass/Vocals

Kim Van Stavern - Guitar/Vocals

Jacky Younger - Drums/Vocals

Long, long ago in a galaxy far, far away… A lowly down and out, down on his luck, probably drunk too, you know those musicians. Anyway, the down and out musician was trying to cross the street in the wee hours of August 6th, 1965, when from out of nowhere a '65 Ford mustang ran the musician down (rumor has it that the person behind the wheel was a bass player). To continue, he was left to die alone, and as he took his last breath, that very moment, a newborn baby cries.

Kim VanStavern was born on August 6th, 1965 in Oklahoma City, Ok. According to family, she started singing as soon as she could talk (day 1). She was given her first guitar at age 15, but didn't take a full interest until summer of ‘83 when she turned 18. She had performed at the Oklahoma Opry, armories, and other family oriented functions up until she graduated from Moore High School 1983.

She attended college at Rose State where she joined the Country Raiders. There she would form her 1st band and meet long time "best" friend and drummer Debbie Van. After graduating from Rose State with an Associates Music Technology Degree in Country Music, she went on to play in several bands over the years, including Savannah, Mariah, Lightning Ridge, and classic rock band Trayler Trash. However, the present band "Haywire" has actually been an on again, off again band relationship for several years. The very moment it started was the night that Debbie and Kim were playing for a gentleman by the name of Jimmie Boyer, when a mysterious person in a long coat, black cowboy hat, and spurs came up and shouted, "Who the *%@ are you?" Thus the beginning of long, long, long (sometimes painful) friendship.

Jacky Younger - Drums/Vocals

Jacky comes from an entire family of musicians, dating back as far as her great-grandfather. She has been entertaining audiences since she was 7 years old. The first band that she had performed with was renamed "Jacky and The Jokers". Continued performing at local state fairs and talent contests, as a child. At 18 she joined and all-girl show band named "KARIZMA" in Las Vegas, as their drummer and lead vocals. From there she continued on with the family band "LEGACY" drumming and fronting. Then on to another all-girl band with her sisters, named "BLUSH". Jacky has performed on almost every casino stage in Las Vegas, spanning almost 3 decades. Her showmanship behind the drums is as entertaining to watch as it is to hear. She definitely has what it takes to drive this group.

Influences: Reba, Stevie,Tanya,Patty Loveless,Merle, Waylon and Jessi,Journey,Pat Benatar and Heart,Tammy and Dolly. These are just a few of the many great artist that we have grown up loving.
