Recorded At Blank Tape Studios, Sheffield
As a side project from my band, the mighty Transcendence, I have decided to write some acoustic songs and record them. Why? Well because i love just picking up and guitar, strumming away and most importantly writing songs.
All of my songs having personal meanings behind them as shown below.
The Globe - This song is about a homeless guy who is always outside the Globe pub in Sheffield. It's basically talking about things we take for granted; shelter, heat, companionship and how some people dont get that and are stuck out on the streets in the debth of winter wondering where their next meal is coming from.
The Hidden Truth - This song is linked with Plato's Allegory of the Cave and how we take thinks to be real and genuine, unaware of anything else. It is also linked with different religions and not knowing of the overall purpose of life and the possibility of an overriding force controlling existence as we know it.
Yorkshire Hearts & Shattered Dreams - This song is about never giving up and always holding your head high no matter how hard life gets. Its about believing you want something so badly that it blinds you from the fact that what you really strive for, you already have.
Hero (In My Eyes) - This song is about knowing when something feels right and holding on to it; never letting it go, because if you do, it you will regret it for the rest of your life. It's about accepting when you are wrong as you may never get the chance to show it later.
Thanks to: Charlie, Sophie and Rachael who braced the cold to come to the studio and support. Willie, who is possibly the most supportive person in the world. Andrew, whos devotion to the eagles and putting everything in capo is astonishing. David Nix, who inspired me with his own stuff. Paula, who supplied the artwork with her picture of Sheffield, which she took whilst drunk, during the early hours of the morning on the other side of the railway bridge. James, with his continued support. Doggers, for being, well, Doggers. Martin, for being an awesome sound man and overall roadie. Will, Cave, Keev and Tim for Trancendence and Cave for organising a trip into very dark back allies of Coventry in order to, very dodgely, buy a pa system. Katie, Lucy, Mum and Dad for having to listen to the guitar constantly. Anna, for being supportive and Tom at Blank Tape Studios for the recording.
