Hexcrusher: outsider 8-bit that toes the line between party-time and self-destruction. Music data is painstakingly crafted into chirpy, dirty dance tunes and then SMASHED with distortion pedals, just for the fun of it. Frightened screaming and awkward singing occasionally takes the helm of these grudgingly nostalgic 7 tracks. Instrumentation is limited to an NES, Sid chip, 909, and cheap distortion pedals! The pure bitiness of the SID and NES operate seperately from track to track, and then finally combine forces for a rally-call of dorkiness and self-realization: TEAM DEAD. Then the vocals dissapear behind the glowing pixelated walls. You're left with bouncey noise zaps and ping-ponging stabs of pulse waves. Drum samples are rendered down into grainy vortexes that drive the beat in a purer way than a $10,000 DJ rig. Get this cdr. Download the NSF and PSID files.
