Csürrentő Együttes

About Me

Csürrentö band was formed in the Hungarian Folkmusic School of Óbuda (www.nepzeneiskola.hu, www.folkmusicschool.hu) in 1997 with the help of Sándor Balogh. The enthusiastic founders were Kata Klopp (vocal), András Benk-- (kobsa), Szilárd Horváth (flutes), Bálint Kárpáthegyi (drum) and Tamás Novinszky (flutes). After the founding the band's main aim was to play the dance tunes of Moldva region as authentical as possible. This can be heard on the MC of 1999, titled Kövecses víz közepibe. 1999 was the year of the first Csürrentö dance-house in the FMH, where the band is still playing twice a month. During the years passed the band has become an active part of the Hungarian folk-music life and dance-house movement. After several competitions, concerts and dance-houses the repertoire of he band extended with the flute-music of Gyimes, Somogy and Mezöség, and the members has also changed: from the beginning of 2006 there are seven musicians and two dancers in the band. With the new members the aims have also extended. In dance-houses for either children or for adults the band is still playing mostly Moldavian folkdance-music. Yet, at concerts or accompaniment of dance ensembles the band can come up with its individual musical ideas or arrangements as it can be heard on the CD of 2006, titled Csángó utca. The experimental mood and mind led to cooperation with bands of totally different music, e.g.: the Pannonia Allstars Ska Orcehstra.
