Kidd Caspa

Born in Tucson, Arizona but raised in Morrison, Colorado Dennis a.k.a. KIDD CASPA was born on August 18, 1986. He began listening to music in his early years starting off with some hip hop. At the age of six, loving the beats in hip hop more then the lyrics, he progressed into different types of music, from rap to hardcore punk. Where after moving from Lakewood to Morrison and making some new friends, did he stumble upon a group called “The Prodigy.” He states “this is where my obsession for making music really started.” With the curiosity of how it was all done he discovered synthesizers, turntables and samplers. Dennis was 12 when his friend next door (Jared L) bought a synthesizer. It was here where he really got a feel for how beats were put together, acquiring some major parts of music; high, mids, lows etc.At the age of 14 Dennis discovered jungle, Drum N Bass, which grabbed him deeply; it was only a few months later when Jared’s brother Zeb bought turntables. Dennis was hooked, he states “I guess I was bitten by the vinyl bug, with my passion for Drum N Bass I called it fate.” Over the years he spun at friend's houses learning new techniques and gaining more experience in mixing and beat matching. Dennis was 18 when he bought his first pair of tables and a mixer. After 11 months of endless practice spinning mostly jungle & Drum N Bass he played his first show at a bar called the matchbox that a friend (Brian M aka the noise and matt aka math you) he met from the internet set him up with. With dreams of spinning in front hundreds since his early teens KIDD CASPA was to beginning pave his own path. It wasn’t until April 2006 when Dennis met Dave Sonners with Red entertainment, who was promoting for a local theater called The Pinnacle. After a few drinks at some mutual friends party, Dave Discovered that Dennis started DJ at 18. As they conversated Dave asked Dennis for help with local DJS. Dennis agreed to help Dave not knowing the outcome of such a request. A few days later they met at the pinnacle, where Dave introduced Dennis to David Pritchard (theater manager) Who became a sort of mentor for Dennis months later, when it came to marketing and promoting. All this led up to Dennis’s first show (Solar Eclipse) held on Aug 12th 2006. From that first meeting to the end of the event, Dennis contacted friends such as DJ Digger, Whom Dennis met through Zeb, Matt V (DJ Dago) who was a mutual friend of Dennis’s sister as well as Dale C (Cloudkicker) Brian G (Hypnautic) and Greg (B-Groovy). Greg R(DJ Vulcan) and Micheal (Epiphany) had been friends’ with Dennis for only a few years. The Hip Hop group Illaside were introduced to Dennis through Matt V. As well as, Patrick (Polymorph) who Dennis had met at the Matchbox only some months ago. It was Dale C who reintroduced Patrick to Dennis for the event’s sound system. Dennis states “It was an Experience of a life time.” At the age of 19 Dennis had already spun at gigs and produced/managed his first show. From that point on Dennis’s life changed, working with producers in Denver and some of Denvers popular DJS. In November 2006 Dale called Dennis with a request to spin at Kazmos, which was the first bar that was actually in Denver. From that day on Dennis studied the scene going to shows and talking to people about their thoughts and feeling for different types of music. He played house parties and met a number of people that were in the scene too. It wasn’t until December 2007 when Dennis met Ryan V. (Syke) will (Yahru El Guro) and Kyle (DJ Edify), who was introduced to Dennis by Patrick. A few days later Ryan called Dennis to spin at Hermans Hideway cause the booked DJ was out of state. Dennis states, “After studying the scene im excited to see how far the rabbit hole goes!..... Your limited only by your own minds creativity.”
