I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

Well I am a 55 year old Scooter Tramp Grampa that has been married to my wonderful wife since June 16, 1972. I have a Son and a Daughter that are grown and both have they're own "My Space" pages someplace on here.

My Interests and Hobbies:

 • Along with enjoying anything Automotive or Racing no matter what size it is, I have recently enjoyed having the honor of becoming friends with a few of the people that own, or drive cars in the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) and the Drag Racing Circuit in general.• I also collect a few of the Hot Wheels cars and I also have been building a Styrene plastic models here and there. • Besides racing, I like to collect just anything Disney. • In the past I have enjoyed building miniature buildings for use in the "G" scale outdoor railroad and landscapes.
 • Also in years gone by, I actively raced on the 1/8th Scale Professional Radio Control Racing Circuit. While trying to accumulate as many national point as I could, and hitting all those races took me all across the country attending just about every National event that I was able to find that awarded ranking points for ROAR. During that time I was awarded; Out of ten events that I attended,I was brought home ten top five finishes on the International Racing Circuit. Also during that same time period, I also accumulated twenty top ten finishes and two first places wins on the National Event Circuit. As for the local racing scene here in Ventura, I was able to receive the most accumulated points and was awarded the Club’s Year End Points Championship 4 years straight spanning from 1981 to 1984.

 • I have built and was trained to fly radio control airplanes. My flight instructor was Bill Stearns from a well known club here in Ventura County.
 • I also like to paint with oil’s, mostly landscapes on canvas and I also enjoy sketching hot rods in pencil. I like to air brush on just about anything you put in front of me but I enjoy doing "Flames" the most.
 • Also in years gone by I did a lot of communicating on Citizen Band Radio across the Single Side Band frequency range. While I was into the Single Side Band, I had a real nice station in my garage and I could almost talk around the world and received ton’s of what the radio crowd calls "QSL mail" which is a personal 3x5 card that confirmed the contacts from around the globe.
 • I enjoy low and lean hot rods. • I like driving the Virtual RC Racing Simulator. • I think one of the best things I have ever done was to camp in the California Coastal Redwoods along the Avenue of the Giants. • I also enjoy saltwater fishing off the California coast along the Channel Islands. :O)
 • In my younger days, I had owned and painted numerous Harley Davidson Motorcycles. • I have owned and painted Racing Karts for myself and friends. • I also paint Slot Cars and Radio Control Cars for drivers from around the world including top Racing Teams including Associated RC Cars, Pit Shop Raceway, Eagle Raceway, Pacific Coast Hobbies, Ikon Office Systems, DRS Slot Cars, and also Slick 7 Slot cars.

The celebrity friends and contacts that I know :

 • I attended school, played on the same little league baseball team, and I was chosen by the choir leaders to be actor, and director, Kevin Costner's buddy when we sang at Disneyland. We were both in a choir of 10, 11 and 12 year olds that was called “The Ventura Blue Beret Boys Choir". Kevin and I sang a duet together when we would travel to the different places the choir sang at. The most rememberable time with Kevin was when we sang on the Carnation Ice Cream Stage at Disneyland in Anaheim California back in 1966.

 • I met NHRA Funny Car driver Ron Capps while drag racing the Sim-Cars online. While racing with Ron, I had the honor of what is called “Cyber Paint” the Snake Racing Top Fuel Sim Dragster for Ron's daughter, Taylor. I am also proud to have designed and painted the Quality Communications NEC logo For my friend Al Liebmann, who was also the team manager for Gary Densham's old NEC Nitro Funny Car.

My motor-sports, past and present affiliations:

 • My first remembrance of any form of Motorsports was standing outside my 6th grade classroom while all the other kids were out for recess. I was doing this for drawing on a couple of my friend’s T-Shirts. Seems their parents had called the school asking why their children's new white T-shirts had a big "Rat Fink" caricature drawn in black permanent maker on the backs of the shirts, and just who was the bad kid that their kids pay 50 cents to ruining their kid’s brand new shirt. (Woops)
 • I was my Big Brother, John's, Hanger-on in the late 1960's. My first drag race was at Lions Drag Strip. He was the driver for a really cool 1963 X-California Highway Patrol Dodge Polaris that had a 413 Hemi under the hood, but my parents told him that he couldn’t go to the races if he wouldn’t take his little brother so I got to go anyway. Sorry Bro.. (1964&65)
 • As for Roundy Round racing; the first race I attended was the LA Times Grand Prix that was held at Riverside Raceway. Before the Grand Prix race started they ran the very first International Race Of Champions (IROC). The first type of car they used was the Porsche 911 Carrera. Some of the first drivers to race in the IROC were, Richard Petty, A J Foyt, Al Unser Sr. and more. I also attended the inaugural California 500 NASCAR race which was also the first race held at the California Speedway in Fontana Ca.
 • In 1990 my next experience with racing was when I attended and received a drivers certification in a 3 day racing program that was held at the Jim Hall School of Racing.
 • In 1994 and 1995 I raced in the Southern Californian Racing Kart Series with a Proline Yamaha KT 100 2 Stroke Racing Kart.
 • I have won numerous awards for Model Contests, Radio Control, and Slot Car model building and racing over the years.

My Scale Motorsports:

 • In 1982 I helped form and was the event administrator for the first ROAR Region 6 Championships. Over 150 drivers attended the event from 6 southwest states. I finished 4th place in the Expert “A” Main in this race.
 • In 1982 I helped form and was the event administrator and then I also placed 3rd in the world’s first 1/8th scale 6 Hour Can-Am Endurance race. The race attracted the three driver teams that came from across the country. This first race grew in later years to be later called the "Budweiser 10 Hour Enduro". The race then attracted the 5 man teams the came from around the world.
 • In 1983 I was the Pit Shop Raceway’s record holder..
 • In 1983 I helped design and construct the west coasts first Off-Road Track that was built at the Pit Shop Raceway, formerly Thorp raceway.
 • In 1983 & 1984 I was one of two drivers from Ventura that was chosen to be a Steering Committee Administrator for the Southern California 1/8th Scale On-Road Championship Series. I placed in the top 5 in each race during the year and place 4th in the 24 race year end points championship.
 • From 1981 to 1984 I was President of the Ventura Roadrunners Radio Operated Auto Racers Club.

Computer Motorsports:

 • I was Web Site Administrator and or Graphics Designer for the Drag Racing Tonight radio show from 1997 to 1999.
 • I painted the Sim-Cars in a 3D Computer Graphics format for a well-known Computer Drag Racing Simulator program for Bethesda Software Co.. I also painted the Sim-Cars for the well-known NHRA Funny Car drivers, Ron Capps and his Copenhagen FC, Chuck Etchell’s, and his Kendall FC, John Force and his Elvis and Flames FC's, and also Eddie Hill's Top Fuel Dragster.
 • I was also the Web Author, Publisher, Graphic and Web Designer for numerous drag racing, Sim-Car Racing and also for a few Scale Racing internet web sites.
 • I was Advisor, Administrator, Graphics Designer and Sim Car Painter for several Scale and Sim Drag Racing Association’s and Teams, including the International Scale Hot Rod Association, the Scale Drag Racing Association, the World Hot Rod Association, and Simulated Hot Rod Association. You can copy and paste the link below to see some of the Avatars N Race Cars at my web site. http://www.avatarsbymas.com
