Influences: MBIRA POST
Our killer debut album, top 10 in KCRW’s specialist charts and in every music supervisors collection. Mbira Post was an accident that no-one could have seen coming. It's just never been done like this before.
A collision of minds and music. Roo, running headlong - electribe under one arm & mac under the other, blissful with his delays, wires and weirdness - into Mark - arms full of instruments, head full of visions, and virtuous in his knowledge of the world’s music.TRADITIONAL MUSIC OF SWAZILAND
After the success of Mbira Post we started to get a lot of offers of tours and projects and one of them really stood out...
‘alliance franciase’ commissioned us to record and document the indiginous music and sounds of swaziland. We spent a few weeks wandering around swaziland with backpacks filled with recording gear and eventually set up studio in the music department of Waterford Kamhlaba (UWC) up in the hills of Mbabane.
Many people walked from miles around to come to play for us and record at our makeshift studio - it was a truly blissful time! This is not a blissful virtuous album but it’s a wonderful collection of swazi players playing traditional songs on indigenous instruments.COMMISSIONED AND PRODUCTION MUSIC
A selection of our music that isn’t directly ‘blissful virtuous’. We write a lot of production music for kpm/juice music/BBC/ITV, and work ..s of special projects like theme’s for movies, idents for new BBC channels and loads of production/library music.ALBUM 2
wow, have we got some crazy tracks for you.
Album 2 remains as yet untitled but we’re pretty sure that the lead track is going to be ‘Starting Over’. It’s a barrage of repetition, growing and pushing onwards, with driving mbiras racing with the electronics. I’m not sure who wins.
Mbulusi/Pinnacles is a piece straight from Mark that could tear your little heart out - I’m working on some beats and some sweet sounds to complete the bv circle.
We’ve got an amazing piece with vocals from simon wainwright from Hope&Social - it’s pretty chilling at times.
Starting to think about the links for tracks and about pulling in more of the stuff we recorded in Swaziland.
