The save Migaloo Project is campaigning to protect the Whales and other marine species in our local waters by raising awareness around the animal welfare issues that affect us locally.The shark nets off the Gold Coast seaway put whales, dolphins and turtles at constant risk of entanglement each year. Japanese whaling, polution and entanglement are amoung the issues creating the battle for survival. This is a local issue and it requires a local response as a matter of urgency.Leading up to migration season, we will be seeking sponsers and volenteers to assist in building a community based Whale Disentanglement Team. This year the focus will be on monitoring the nets and implementing rescue strategies when necessary.
