INTRODUCING DJ DON SACKETT:
BACKGROUND: Professional Disc Jockey in all styles of night club entertainment & musical preference for last 10 years. Professional Singer/Songwriter/Recording Artist; Lead & Background Vocalist; Multi-instrumentalist including Guitar, Bass, Drums & Keyboards. Plus numorous technical skills.
SHOW PROFILE: All types of night clubs: Dance/Hip-hop Clubs, Classic Rock & Current Rock Clubs, New and Traditional Country.
MY SHOW PERSPECTIVE: It's real simple, regardless of the type night club I'm at, when I get to the club, I'm dead serious about why I'm there and what I have to do. I'm not there to get stoned, drunk, or chase all the ladies.
I still have a great time during my shows because I'm very much into what I do. I just never forget that I'm there to do a serious job. When I first get to the club, I'm first focused on setting up and testing my equipment. Then I get ready to put on the best show that I possibly can.
I make every possible effort to play the kind of songs that will make everyone at the club want to dance, drink, and have a great time. I do everything that I can to make the majority of the people at the show want to come back the next time I return to the club.
WHAT HAPPENED TO ME: In summary, I have gone back to what I call the "real me". Over the course of several years, I lost myself. I lost myself because I took on the responsibility of taking care of my Mother who eventually died of cancer. I would later learn that as she became more ill, it required more of my time, and eventually all of my time.
So little by little, I lost a big piece of me too. I took care of her in every way until she passed away in October of 2007. My goal with her was to make her comfortable and retain her dignity which I did. The whole experience broke my spirit, took away my drive, and brought me mentally to the lowest point in my life.
When you spend every day of your life with someone who is terminally ill, nothing else matters to you. In my case, I held everything inside me and just dealt with whatever I had to. After it was all said and done, I had to draw upon every ounce of my inner strength to pull my head back together and re-invent myself. For me, time did heal all wounds where I now spend every day making up for lost time. I'm confident in myself again, and I have some very specific directions that I am moving in.
EQUIPMENT: 2.5 tons of earth shaking crowd pleasing thunder & visual awe.
TRANSPORTATION: Chevy Trailblazer with an attached customized 18 foot enclosed Cargo Pro equipment trailer.
STAGE REQUIREMENTS: The bigger the better! Otherwise, I'll find a way to make it work.
PERSONAL THANKS: To all the many one on one and casual friends, fans, associates, fellow musicians and entertainers, the many technical crew members, as well as the night club owners, agents and managers who supported me over the years, thank you for believing in me.
PERSONAL THANKS: For those of you who DID NOT believe in me, I wish to thank you as well, where your negativity motivated me to try harder and ultimately turn my weaknesses into strengths.
MY COMPETITORS: Where most of you treated me with the respect you have always demonstrated, I THANK YOU for your professionalism.
TOO MUCH DRAMA: To the one "drama" based rather large gent and his "luv"-ly side-kick, THANK YOU for reminding me that there are still people like you out there to watch out for. I have absoutley no respect for anyone who pretends to be a friend while they are really looking for someone's weaknesses while planning to steal work from them for less money.
