BIOGRAPHY:
Grown up in Chiavari , a town near Genova, Matijay (Matteo Mirenda), class of 1988 plays for several years the piano listening to Andean and Latin American music.
He also shows interest towards punk & rock environments present in his hometown. During his early years in high school he starts following closely radio programs bringing him closer and closer to the so called electronic music and many kinds of house music. In particular he starts listening the duo Deep Dish music.
At 16 he begins to play as a DJ at private parties performing deep house, clubhouse and jazz house. After graduating from high school he moves to Milazzo (Me), his parent’s hometown.
Here, he starts playing at private parties and several clubs scattered over town.
Afterwards attracted by production he start working studio.
At the end of year 2008 a label by Joy Kitikonti is released on Footlovers Music. It is the first track with Matijay’s name on it. It is called After Night.
Along with the original techno version two other versions are released. The Habakus progressive and one by Tony Lizard.
From this moment on several tracks on various labels are released.
During the first days of march 2009 , in a spring weather like Messina, Matijay and Dj/Producer Graziano Raffa decide to form a duo with a 360° electronic music vision, willing to produce very refined hits with special melodies but also contemporary pieces.
Among this many other ideas came to mind giving birth to Warmside.
In the spring of 2010 the Warmside duo, with them "Pueblo Unido" Ep, arrived 13° (with Unido) and 14° (with Pueblo) on the Techno Chart of Beatport (the best one digital store of the world).
On 10th June of 2010, arrives 88° on Beatport's Minimal Chart, with this track: Matijay & Stefano Franca - Cosmopolitan (Karl Remix).
On 21th July of 2010 out on Beatport and in all digital stores in the world, the first Matijay's album: "El Planeta De La Turbulencia". It's composed by 14 tracks, the genres of this album are techno, minimal and experimental house.
On 9th August 2010 the Matijay's minimal track "Kiarottolo (Original Mix)" of Hamburg Aufnahmen Record arrives 55° in the Beatport's Top100 Minimal Chart.
On September 2010 he decide to form a duo with his friend Inner Solution (Axel Salmeron): the Wasted Mates.
