‘Come Home’ by Palace Ballet from Gordon Beveridge on Vimeo .

This is where you can stalk PALACE BALLET. They live in parts of Glasgow, but they usually write about far-off places once dreamt about or visited and never returned to. They like loud songs that sound like happiness, but dig deeper and you’ll find them to be mostly of despair and guilt. There is 4 of them making it easy to fit them on a stage. Two of them are brothers, affording them semi-telepathy of an occasion. Two of them are called Gordon, making them easily confusable with one another. They are not generally as vain as other musicians, making them ideal candidates to share a bathroom with. I should like to point out that they love music from many different eras. They have been playing live since New Year’s Eve at the end of 2007. They would like to meet you, in this town or YOUR town.

PALACE BALLET have thus far been held against the bosom of BBC Radio's Steve Lamacq & Vic Galloway, BBC Introducing, the odd random radio station in Uruguay, as well as Xfm's Jim Gellatly & Martin Bate (whereby they waxed some other chump in a silly little who-has-better-songs competition, trivial really). You may have seen them sharing a stage with jennifer gentle, jocasta sleeps, nacional, isosceles, hidden masters, frightened rabbit, paper planes, the french wives, endor, pearl and the puppets, screaming lights, john knox sex club (although they always move their instruments out of the way to let other people play separately). You may have seen them in the future. They will probably be your friend if you ask them (although not if you already have, like 15,000 pals already).

Sounds Like: Really? Seriously? Shit, I hope we don’t sound EXACTLY like anything else. That could be the worst possible reason to start a band. We like Fsharp minor a lot. We HAVE been told that among other things, we are, and I quote “tight as f_ck”. Not knowingly having been anally penetrated, we can only assume that means we play our music with a stunning degree of synchronicity.
Here’s what some other people have said:
“Theres a song called 'Some Girls' by Palace Ballet which I think is as immediately catchy as it gets. But if that doesn’t do it for you give 'Novel' a listen. Once you hear the chorus you’ll want to hear it again. A bit like smack for the ears. Theres no band that springs to mind to compare them to, which is always a good thing. I’ll just say they sound good and leave it at that.”
NEW-MUSIC-SCOTLAND.co.uk
“Palace Ballet make tight, meticulous indie rock with a list of influences that runs from David Byrne to Devendra Banhart”
THE SCOTSMAN
“There’s a bit of a Post-Arctic Monkeys vibe here”
STEVE LAMACQ (We hope he meant the 2nd album)
“Been listening to this demo a lot this week. The closest sound that springs to mind is perhaps that of The Strokes”
JIM GELLATLY
“…Like how you mixed some reggae into that song…”
