Brighton Photo Biennial

About Me

Brighton Photo Biennial 2008, Memory of Fire: The War of Images and Images of War, curated by Julian Stallabrass will examine photographic images of war, their making, use and circulation, and their currency in contemporary society.
Brighton Photo Biennial is a UK-based, not-for-profit arts organisation set up to deliver a festival of photography that takes place in Brighton & Hove and across the South East coast of England every 2 years. Brighton Photo Biennial is an ambitious celebration of international photographic practice articulated through a uniquely defined curatorial concept.
The Biennial collaborates with partner venues and visual arts organisations to show high quality photographic and related media to the widest possible audience, bring the best international photography to the UK, exhibit recent and newly commissioned work, and encourage and showcase local talent by working closely with Brighton Photo Fringe.
The festival allows an inter/national audience to engage with curated programmes of photography and related media via gallery, public spaces and online. An extensive education programme develops local audiences and ensures the widest possible participation and engagement.
Brighton Photo Biennial is funded by Arts Council England, Brighton & Hove City Council, University of Brighton and Photoworks.
